Posting for a friend w/o internet access. The gun is NOT in my inventory; it's on form4 in AZ. Price of $9500 includes first tax and delivery, certified funds up front, sorry no trades. John is nearing retirement and has elected to sell off his baby. As you can see from his description, he's a meticulous owner and has pampered this Thompson. 8 magazines, spare M1A1 bolt, parts and springs are included. (I suspect the 'stainless' M1A1 bolt referred to is standard USGI in the white, but perhaps Mike Dillon offers an upgrade I'm not aware of?),......

 

INFORMATION ON M1 TSMG AND ACCESSORIES

 

Weapon

It is a West Hurley manufactured Auto Ordnance, Thompson Submachine Gun Caliber .45M1 serial # M475A built in 1986. All serial numbers match. The gun is marked M1 but was original built to M1A1 specifications. The original M1A1 bolt was replaced with an M1 bolt with a separate fire pin and firing pin spring. The M1 bolt is a piece of machined stainless steel with the following markings: a letter P at the 7 O’clock position below the hole for the cocking handle on the left side of the bolt; on the rear of the bolt, around the hole for the recoil spring there is a letter S at the 7 O’clock position and a letter O at the 1 O’clock position. The bolt was given to me by Mike Dillon of Dillon Precision (the manufacturers of the reloaders) because he said the weapon would fire better with the M1 style bolt. There is also a military surplus adjustable canvas sling attached to the TSMG.

 

The weapon had only one or two owners before I purchased it. Since purchasing the gun in 1992, I have only fired 200 to 300 rounds through it.

 

Magazines

There are five (8) 30 round stick magazines with the weapon

 

Two (3) magazines were manufactured by The Seymour Products Co. Seymour, Conn. and came with the weapon when purchased

 

Three (5) magazines are marked US 30 Cartridge Cal .45 and were manufactured by C Co (an unknown manufacturer) and were given to me by Mike Dillon of Dillon Precision Co.

 

Spare Parts

I bought a handful of spare parts to do minor repairs if I had problems. They include:

 

One bag of springs (in a opened plastic bag with US and Vietnamese Writing) including:

 

1 Recoil Spring

 

1 Trigger Spring

 

1 Magazine Catch Spring

 

1 Sear Spring

 

1 Sear Lever Spring

 

1 Frame Latch Spring

 

1 Firing Pin Spring for the M1 Bolt

The seller made no reference to how the gun performs. I bought much the same article last year (8K) and it would not run at all. It's still with PK.

C&R RR. Less than 10K in price and less than 1000 ever made. Try to find one in 2 years for less than 15K. They can be made to run.

 

I ain't the seller, just making an judgement. If I had the money sitting around it would be mine already.

Seller has informed me that the gun is SOLD.

 

Gun sold in 6 hours time. The ad is still up for backups. I have been in backup positions a lot. Never got anything that way. ( I keep trying. )

 

Before long a five thousand dollar tube sten is going to be a bargain.

You're right John, about the less than 1000 made...actually there were 609 of them from s/n M100A to M717A.

 

As an aside, I still want to know what happened to the other nine guns...the s/n range gives us 618 serial numbers, but only 609 are supposedly "out there." Why? What happened to the other nine guns? What numbers are "missing"? So far, no one hasprovided a satisfactory answer. (I know where s/n M187A is...in my safe.)

No need to wait five years to pay $15K for a 28 WH. Armament Services (www.autoweapons.com) has two 28 WH's at $14.2K and $14.5K posted now! In five years who knows what they'll be at this rate.
