Paul in PA
OK, I know it ain't Class III or even an original parts, but I have to ask the question. What do people think of the ATI imported GSG MP-40 Pistols. In some ways they are as much a MP-40 as a Kahr or AO Semi Thompson is a Thompson. But again at $649, what is not too like? You can see them at www.americantactical.us/5421/detail.html These are made out of ZAMAK 5 Zinc Alloy, which does not excite me, and have metal magazines. With the prices on a real class III MP-40 and limited spare part availability; this could be just the thing the doctor ordered for fun. Does anybody own one, handled one, or shot one? Thanks in Advance Paul
Toaster
Eh, I dont really find time to support them.. I've never really been a fan of GSG, and the only thing they do is externally resemble a gun. It almost seems like an insult. Many of the operating systems were not preserved, neither were the original parts/interchangeability. It seems like an Airsoft or a Nerf model to me. MG08
I built a few SBRs out of the folding stock rifles. I have not looked at the "pistols". they are pretty much like any semi auto copy of a full auto - kind of like kissing your sister...... now a couple of guys have made post sample full autos out of the GSG guns, and those would be fun. colt21a
I was going to get one and shoot the fun out of it until I saw it first hand. I would rather have it look more original and full auto and shoot stinkin blanks. A big downer... They should have done it right and charged a few grand.oh well back to the Bunker Colt 21a And sometimes Auric Goldfinger

Adg105200
Unless you need a magazine well, rear sight, or front sight hood,I'm pretty sure you can get new manufactured mag well. Saw one go on eBay a little while back. Have seen some originals there too from time to time. Andrew
Toaster
For the 40? The 38 is being reproduced now and almost every part is available. How cool! However the 40 is stamped and fluted. Isn't anyone willing to tackle that. Based on I've heard from

Adg105200
http://www.ebay.com/itm/112456715533 Here is one, although I have seen much nicer ones go. You usually only see the front sight hoods with used barrels, but I think they are soldered on. Andrew
RoscoeTurner
Unless you need a magazine well, rear sight, or front sight hood, You just have to know the right people. Of course I am simply maintaining a MP40 not trying to build one.
Adg105200
Lol. Knowing the right people is the key. It's nice having access to items that normally don't pop up often. Andrew

APEXgunparts
Unless SSD has made some significant changes to the MP-38 the ATF will not approve it for import. It has been attempted before and was found too easy to convert to full auto. The units sold in Canada were recalled by RCMP because of this design issue. colt21a
They are going to the closed bolt like the other outfit brought in the 100 models back over 5 years ago. I should know I had one,No open bolt like they sold Canada. and of course with stock in forward position. or they get into the SBR thing. I have done this stuff for 45 plus years, so watch it all very carefully. so wishing them luck since they brought them in before under a different outfit. had #461 Colt21A Ron
Petroleum 1
wow that is a nice repro...I didn't see magazines on their website?? It would be nice to have a "new" source. Edited November 8, 2017 by Petroleum
colt21a
I told them I will buy five maybe ten if they pull it off. Another place tried two years ago. And that GSG job does not cut it with me, I have a Umarex German full auto all steel b.b. MP-40 on the wall, that looks better than a GSG stockless 9mm.And from a few feet away you can't tell it from a real MP-40,Heck back in the day all we had was black plastic Luger Squirtguns. today kids get the cool stuff. or maybe Kidults.ha ha Colt21A Ron
APEXgunparts
I asked my friend at ATI why they didn't import the GSG-MP-40 with a stock. The answer was that they tried and ATF would not approve it for import, even though it was not a real one and was permanently folded.ATI had a lot of delays with bringing their MP-40 to market, some were with the manufacturer, most were related to the actual import (US Customs and ATF). I also have been advised that SSD isn't easy to work with. They have had both legal and business problems in Europe.I wonder what the PTR people learned during the MP-44 import? colt21a
I know back when it was a nightmare non payment bad parts. some guns did not function and no extra Mags, I was the guy who supplied Jerry with over 500 plus new MP-44 mags at the time. I think they still have some today that they sell on gun broker.I was willing to become a disb. at the time but never came to terms.. I said give me delivery date and Serial numbers And will send funds in 24 hours. No response I bought three guns out of that total batch at the time. hoping this import deal go's smoother. How humans can screw things up is mind boggling.Colt 21A Ron
