I honestly missed this gun while it was gone. I had Mr. Naess do some work on it, and I just got it back this week. It ran perfect before I sent it off, and of course it continues to run perfect now. I really enjoy this gun. It is a great piece of German engineering and world history. It is really amazing and humbling that our dads and grandfathers fought against machines like this, and I try to remember that every time I shoot guns of German and Japanese WWII manufacturing. I really wish my grandfather that fought for America in Europe and arrived in France the day after D-Day was still around to tell me what he thinks of this gun, and me owning it, but he'd be 105 now. Nothing new for many of you, but here is a quick 52 round belt (with feeder tab piece). Amazing!

Thanks Bob!

I hope he would say, The "Victors" always get the spoils of war!!

That's how I got my MAT 49. An amnesty registered gun he brought back from Vietnam. Yes took it from the former owner, who had no use for it or anything else anymore...

Just wish he had brought some home and amnesty registered them!

Yea, I just don't know what he'd think. He was an old school Texas man, and he went against the MG42 in particular, but he didn't talk much about the war, and he wasn't into guns other than his couple hand me downs from the 1800s. Be interesting to hear his take.

Now my other grandfather I really wish was still around to see it. He would have LOVED it, but he didn't actually go against them, so I couldn't have gotten his thoughts on them in the past. He was a Japanese/Hawaiian fighting the Japanese in the Pacific.
