Worth The Price?

Recommended Posts

Just came home from a local gun show where a fellow has a M1A1 dummy receiver on Thompson parts. The frame and trigger group are later style with round rocker and safety levers and GI mag catch. The buttstock was what appeared to be U.K. with the sling swivel relocated to the top and the original one filled in neatly. The trigger grip was real beat and the horizontal foregrip had been checkered at some point. Still has the short smooth barrel on it. I didn't have my copy of "American Thunder" in the truck to run out and referance parts so my question is; Is it worth the $575 asking price for the parts that are on the dummy receiver?

A side note I did pick up a A.O. Bridgeport 20 round mag in excellant condition for 15 bucks, guess I did ok with that one.

Also, if I were you, check eBay for M1 Parts Kits. I think there are two up there now. As far as a Display Receiver, use one of Doug Richardsons. They are, without question, the Rolls Royce of Receivers! Stay away from the Phil. Ord ones. They may be cheaper, but you get what you pay for. Hopefully Doug will produce them again. I know his eye surgery as of yet, didn't go all that successful. Hopefully soon, he will recover completely. We should all wish Doug the BEST! Get well Doug!!

Motorcar,

First off, Welcome to the board. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

I agree with LIONHART & Ron Mills, sounds to high http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif for what you've discribed, but if your looking to build or buy a dummy M1A1, check this out.

Can across this, Firing M1A1 Dummy (one of the closest to an original I've seen yet http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif ) that looks like this old boy put some work in to, check out "EVEL BAY" item # 2185131762.

PS - Not sure if it's legel or not, http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif but sounds like he knows what he's talking about?
