full auto 45
Murray, Welcome back my friend. I'm glad you decided to stay despite the few. I've thought about several times of just not writing anything because of some, but then I thought, Hey! What the hell. Just because of someone who doesn't know Jack Schitt pisses me off is no reason to walk away. Stand ground. I always look forward to your knowledge or humor. Sgt
Murray-- That's fantastic!! You've made my day. I'm still learning a lot about Thompsons, only having owned one for about a year now. Your knowledge and expertise makes the exerience even fuller. A hearty welcome back!
Grey Crow
Thanks for the reconsideration! Your presence is needed, and much appreciated by many.
Zamm
Murray, Please, please reconsider... It's your type of comitment and knowledge that makes this such a special place. I'm one of the few that probably won't ever own a FA Thompson. But 30 years ago when at Sarco parts I was given the opertunity to hold and examine a few. The bug bit and that was that. Your collections show such a strong desire to preserve history, we all learn from it. Really, please don't act hastly, there are so very few of your caliber willing to share. All my best, Craig Zammiello

Gunner
Murray, I didn't have a chance to weigh in until now, but just let me say, You're a Gentleman and a Scholar! We all expect people to behave the same way we do, i.e., a scoundrel is suspicious of honest people. You are an intelligent, secure person with a lot of class, and you expect others to be the same. It's a sad commentary that they don't. Having said all of that, I'm really glad you're back. I've learned a lot and enjoyed getting to know you a little bit, albeit vicariously. Nick, thanks for jumping in. I have always felt this board could use more decorum, and this is a telling example. I know no one wants to be the bad guy and play "hall monitor," but a little more comity wouldn't hurt.

Walter63a
Murray, I'm very pleased that you are back! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Some of us, especially we Americans, can be an opinionated and outspoken lot. I, for one, enjoy mixing it up on political and social ideas, as related to crime and gun control. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif However, I have tried not to involve ad hominem attacks, especially on board members. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif So, if it is a bit of a culture-clash, try to be understanding of your Yankee friends. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif Well, have a great Thompson day. Tom28
QUOTE (Murray @ Jun 6 2004, 03:31 AM) So,like it or not, I'm back, warts, pimples and all, but Hey! What about us policing ourselves, no off subject subjects, no abuse of others regardless of how we feel, lets talk Thompson not twaddle!, Drums not drivel, Mags not madness and Colts not crap! If it's not about Thompsons don,t post Yours sincerly Murray Welcome back, Murray. That self-policing which you talk about is a full time job...for everybody...not selectively. Sometimes we need to react to what was said, rather than what we think was in the back of somebody's mind, etc. I've been guilty of drawing incorrect conclusions a couple of times. And after all, neither pimples or warts are contagious via the Internet. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Edited June 6, 2004 by Tom28
Bisley45
Murry, http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Thanks for staying, we need people with an IQ not a mouth or an ax to grind to stay or it will be like some other boards, academia driven out by idiocy. If you let them do it once they will do it forever. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif Now if it was only as easy to keep good people in Ill. it would be a class 3 state with right to carry privlages. If it's not about Thompsons don,t post Murray, Welcome Back. I was hoping you would change your mind. You are a real asset to this board. It is unbelievable someone would give you a hard time given the number of Thompsons you own (or have owned). I like what you said about policing ourselves. I totally agree. Lets only post about Thompsons. If someone needs to post on another subject, take it (or perhaps Nick can move it) to another forum. Tom
PK.
Wow, go away for the weekend and the neighborhood explodes! Some very good points made throughout this thread and hope everyone is listening. Thanks Murray, for all you have contributed and will continue to, including the opening of this line. Lets talk Thompsons, in all their iterations- there is knowledge to be shared and gained by all.
