kamreepaige@gmail.com
Will 1928 parts like trigger, sear block, pawl, disconnector, trip, and springs fit in a 1927a1 frame? Sorry for the dumb question, just finally getting back to finishing up my gun, and don't want to spend auto-ordnance.com prices. Thanks
06AngusSG
No they will not. When the semi-auto Thompson was designed the ATF required that the trigger group not be interchangeable with a full-auto. The bolt and the way it interacts with the trigger group are also different between versions. Jon
kamreepaige@gmail.com
Ok, thanks. Any leads on parts suppliers? Auto ordnance is pretty expensive, and tommygunner must not be in business. I've called and emailed several times to him in the last year, and no response. 06AngusSG
Numrich and Auto Ordnance are really the only 2 suppliers of new semi auto stuff. Jon
deerslayer
Some of the early west Hurley guns had full auto parts modified. Specifically I've seen the sear lever modified with a notch to catch the firing pin. The sear was still there but cut thinner in width and part of the top removed. So do you have more time or money? With time you could figure it out modifying the parts.
Joe H
kamree, If remember correctly the slot in the 1928 frame is wider than the 1927A1 so that the FA sear would not fit in the 1927A-1 slot. The other FC parts will fit. When I built a semi I had to plug a portion of the 1928 frame so that the FA sear would not fit in the frame. Just as Deerslayer noted West Hurley started out with a stock of FA parts. For my first Tommy semi auto build I bought the Kahr fire control parts. Since then they have doubled or tripled in price. For my last build I made a new sear, pawl, modified the FA trip and modified the FA trigger assembly. The only part I bought was the dis-connector. Here is how I did the trigger assembly: http://www.weaponsguild.com/forum/index.php?topic=26117.10 Joe Edited October 14, 2016 by Joe H
diff4608
Try SARCO or Northridge for parts.
anticus
So what is the deal with TommyGunner? Their website is still up.
kamreepaige@gmail.com
Thanks for the replies. I'm not much of a machinist, and would probably screw up modification, which would end up costing more than just biting the bullet at kahr. tynman
So what is the deal with TommyGunner? Their website is still up.I spoke with them today. Not to friendly and not very helpfully. They wont help a DIY person. $70 to send in my rifle to just look at it then $30 for return shipping, Then the price what it would cost to modify. If i were going to let them modify it then the $70 would go to that bill. But without seeing it he wouldnt even talk any kinds of prices. So your guess is a good as mine...
