John Jr
2K max with the drum (that probably does not work). Doubt the gun even works. Your right, he is crazy. Email him and tell you have a SKS new in the box with all the goodies for $6,500 and you will trade. What a joke. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Jr
Arthur Fliegenheimer
Is it April Fools? This guy's figuring is off by a decimal point. It should be $690.00.
Walter63a
I would say $2,300, at the upper limit, being generous (assuming the pouches are genuine WWII)!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif Also, the seller should pay the shipping, for that price! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif Regards, Walter
DC Chris
I saw this too. The funny part is it didn't sell for $5K (way overpriced) and now he threw in some junk and relisted it for 6.5K! Isn't that supposed to work the other way?!? He really has no idea how over priced that is. It will NEVER sell for anywhere over 3K max. Then again, some guy wanted to charge me $13.5K (see other thread) for a NIB WH 1928. And, just like this fella, no takers. Chris Edited February 19, 2004 by DC Chris
Z3BigDaddy
I tried to deal with this guy in the past... Best he would do is pay shipping.... Then he kept sending me emails when I made the polite mistake of saying that I would think about it... I might of paid him half his price at the time... That was before I joined this board and you guys kicked my ass around for paying to much....
TommyGunner
The seller "smokeitup" strikes again! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif
JimFromFL
The sad part is if he keeps posting, some uneducated person will probably stumble upon it thinking its a great deal and make the perchase. When he finally gets it and pulls the trigger he may wonder why it stopped after one bullet. Then he will spend the rest of the day looking for the Selector switch. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
SecondAmend
Every time I see this ad (and the ever inflating price) I like to believe there are other forces at work. For instance, a spouse/significant other who demands the items be put up for sale. The putative seller does so at a price so outrageous as to never sell. Would be seller can then (somewhat disingenuously) say, "I tried to sell that stuff, but nobody will pay me what it's worth." Sort of how I have come to feel about the MP-40 listed at $27,000 on subguns. Reported as an estate sale. Maybe there are heirs who have demanded the outrageous asking price simply to keep the gun from selling thus letting it pass to their hands. Who knows. Arthur Fliegenheimer
Second, Your faith in the nobleness of the motivations behind these individuals is commendable. However, I think the more likely scenario is your garden variety mercenary whose rapaciousness has overwhelmed their common sense.
M1Brian
I started looking for WH semi's a couple of years ago and I saw this ad. Your first thought is it must be really special and your second thought is it's not full auto by mistake and then you go this guy is nuts. For that money you should get one of every model they made. I'm almost done doing that and I am still under his asking price for one gun.
full auto 45
I emailed the squirrel and told him what his price range should be, about $2300 for everything. Here's his response. I copied the email this is exactly what I got back. "Not a day goes by that some Full Auto person thinks that what he has is the greatest thing around. Just like you said, Full auto west hurleys pull 8000 and they don't even shoot without a lot of work. The semi's shoot just fine from the factory. And as far as the price. If you had a unfired full auto in factory box with paperwork and about 2500 of extras it would sell for more than 8000. So just like this semi auto will sell for more than 2200. Try to find another one. There may be clean ones out there, but not any Unfired ones. I have sold several of these Thompsons and I'll sell this one too. The last one I sold was 4500 and the one before that was 5700 and both of those had been fire, with out original boxes. This is the cleanest of 10 I have ever had." Brett Rollins I think the DEA better start checking this guy out!
Walter63a
I pity the poor sap who will, undoubtedly, come along and pay his asking price! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif Buy now, it's a steal, at only $6,900!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif
Arthur Fliegenheimer
This is a 1987 WH semi auto, which means it will need mucho work to make it run and look like a Thompson. Even if this were a 1975 serial #1, George Numrich autographed with a Colt numbered C drum, it would be worth $5,000. Take away the C drum and you have your basic $750, ($100 extra for never being fired), all too common WH semi. Even if it were a registered SBR with a Savage barrel, Colt wood, and Colt rockers/mag release, it might command $2500 at the extreme.
