Hey guys!

I am sorry if this is in the wrong board - I did not see a Czech board and I guess it is most closely related to the Bren, so here I am!
I am starting my search on a ZB26 or ZB30 to add to the collection. I have done alot of research, but I am just looking for some knowledge to arm myself with as a buyer... Such as, what are they bringing in value these days (non-reweld, C&R), and what are some things to look for? Also, if anyone has a lead on one, a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thank you all for the help!

Unless you offer a lot of money to lure a ZB30 out of the wood work, it will be very difficult and expensive to find one. Very few of the them in the NFRTR with a few 30Js in the lot.

German ZB26s are in the $25k and up depending on condition and show up now and then. There a variety of contract made ZB26s as well as the ones issued to the CZ troops and the Germans after they took over CZ and continued to make the ZBs. Some contract guns will be in 7mm and other calibers but these are scarce in the US.

Chinese made ZB26s are a lot less expensive and are usually in 7.62X39 and use AK47 mags. There are German made ZB26s used by the Chinese also that might be in 7.92 or converted to x39.

ZB26 barrels in 7.92 are now very expensive. There are 7mm ZB26 barrels available that do not fit the 7.92 receivers as well as a lot of ZB30 barrels that also do not it the ZB26s but can be made to fit.

7.62X39 Chinese conversion parts occasionally available that can fit the ZB26s without alteration to the gun but have dried up.

Generally the ZB26 parts are hard to find and expensive. ZB26 wood in really good condition is extremely hard to find as spares. ZB26 kits are in the $2500 range. ZB26 kits can be a mix of 26 and 30 parts and often have 30 carrier and bolts with them that are not worth much. These days if you buy a kit, make sure you have an agreement to return it if the parts are wrong in the mix.

All I can think of off the top of my head and others will chime in. I have a number of these guns, German, Chinese, contract, etc and enjoy them a lot. FWIW

Thanks for the speedy reply and wealth of knowledge, Bob! That is all exactly what I needed to know. I am relatively indifferent to the ZB26 vs ZB30, it is more a matter of which gun shows up first and for the right price. Also, caliber and contract is up in the air for me too. I have just always been fascinated by the design and want an example to add to the collection, just to fill the hole more than anything. Also, absolutely everyone I have ever talked to who has owned or shot a ZB26/30, raves about how fun and reliable they are. Thanks again for the info!
