California Registration info

Recommended Posts

For those of you, like me, who decide to register you SA Thompson, the Model number is 1927a1 or M1. Not the model number assigned by Auto Ordanance / Kahr. Don't ask me why. And with you bullet button, it helps to disassemble it for clearer pictures.

This is what I am registering. 16 " green Mountain Barrel with a GPC Cutts that has been welded on, ez pull springs and a Original Lyman ladder sight .

The bullet button was made from a Ar 15 buffer spring detent. Detent spring was adjust to give the proper back pressure.

Also on other guns, if you receiver says Multicaliber-Check the multiple barrel description, not the caliber of the gun. Which allows the rifle to be switched in caliber.

Paladin, I'm watching your progress with interest. Of course, "Assault weapons" (semi-auto rifle with pistol-grip and removable mag) have been illegal in CA for years.

We were under the impression that if one were willing to register their rifle as an assault weapon, "anything goes", with of course our 10-round mag restriction.

Is the bullet-button therefore still necessary if the rifle is registered? And about what was the cost? Thanks ....Phil

I was wondering if the Bullet button had to stay on, too. Since it is now an assault weapon, I would think it can join my other non bb guns.

The bullet button made the guns in compliance with the law, so the BB guns were not considered to be assault weapons until 12/31/17.

The cost of Registering is $15.00 per gun and you can only register on line.

As for the 10 rd mag, there was an injunction to stop that, until Trial or the injunction is lifted.

I registered on April 2, they provided kick backs on the 3, and I am waiting for acceptance.

Yes the bullet button will have to stay on after registration - it will carry the designation 'bullet buttoned assault rifle'.

Still have not received an answer, they seem rather slow.

The bureau of bureaucracy is slow, color me surprised lol!

Hopefully it goes smoothly for you! .

Received the Notification of Registration today, so it took about 6 weeks. I got one paper listing all my rifles that were registered as assault weapons, even one that I registered back in 1999 (I think that was the year) . Also, I was surprised that no where does it mention "Bullet Button" on any of the new registered rifles.

On the negative side,

they can only be sold out of state, and cannot be handed down upon ones death or adjudication of incompetency.
