for the money you spend to get one of these, you don't get alot. the cool factor is pretty high, however it's not really a "fun" gun to shoot yet it is a great gun to own.

 

if you like to tinker though, it's a fun piece. there is a good bit of work that can be done to one to make it work as well as look/feel better.

 

you will be limited only by how much you want to spend.

out of a 27A1, good shooter as well.

If you dont want to screw around and you know eventualy you are going to make it into a full blown 28 clone with a lyman sight just sent it to PK. Six to eight months later a package will arrive at your door and when you open it it will look like what you wanted to buy in the first place but could not. And yes it will still be a semi. Some things you cant change. After that you will not want to shoot it because it looks so good. Have fun with what ever you do and almost all the info you will ever need on the Thompson can be found here.

I just purchased a new 27a1 produced by Kahr. I feel that the West Hurley that I owned in the mid 1990's was a little better in the fact that even though the edges were sharp they at least looked somewhat finished. My new 27a1 produced by kahr has lines that are uneven and sharp. The finish in the mag well is terrible, it appears that they just hogged out the metal with a lathe and didn't even finish it before sending it out. Machining is uneven and rough. Dont know what to say. If your limited by budget and want a semi its a shame to have to plunk down 1,000 dollars to get a firearm that needs hours of finish work to match the originals in workmanship.
