attachment of sling on M1A1

Recommended Posts

just noticed on the deactivated M1A1 it has the regular sling mount on the underside of the stock but there is also snaps both sides of the crossbolt, the snaps look aged with the stock however I do not recall a sling mounted this way, anyone able to shed some light on this type of sling?

Looks like a mac 10 holster set up. Back in 80’s lots of stuff made as accessories for Macs. One was shoulder holster with same snap set up. Mags on left Mac on right. All you had to do was grab grip rotate barrel Up and fire. Snaps hung gun on your side. Great concealment under your coat. Looks like someone customized the M1 stock for same set up. Probably put snap retainers on a piece of old web sling so the M1 could hang from shoulder for quick grab and fire. Hate to say maybe a sidewalk commando.

Thompson would be much better concealed without stock. Just my opinion.
