I was lucky and quick enough to pick this up from Sturmgewehr several days ago for $9,000.

A fully transferable Demro Tac-1A -- a rare select fire submachinegun that to me looks like a toy gun.

Here's a link http://foxcarbine.com to a website regarding it's creator/manufacturer, the history and even NOS and newly manufactured parts that are for sale.

Has anyone here ever owned or seen one of these guns in person?

And I wonder how many fully transferable examples are in the registry?

There was another for sale in the past 1-1.5 years. I remember researching it then as I like unusual guns. Is yours a semi conversion or is it one of them made FA from day 1?

Congrats on your purchase

Thanks,

Factory full-auto from day one.

Apparently, it's got a progressive 2 stage trigger like the Steyr Aug.

Nice score. Are they unmodified M3 mags? Do you like the combo lock feature? Is the lower steel or aluminum?

The lower on DEMRO and FOX guns is cast aluminum ......run one without a buffer and they will crack/break at the rear.

I've seen 2 of the open bolt semis with broken lowers....

Upper is steel, lower is cast Aluminum.

They take M3 grease guns mags.

I was well aware of the rear receiver issue that occurs if the gun is fired repeatedly with a worn out/damaged buffer or with no buffer at all.

That's why I didn't buy it! I googled the weapon and saw that picture and figured I didn't need any headaches.

Exactly, I wouldn't say the buyer was lucky and quick, no one was beating down that sellers door to buy the pot metal niche MG at $9,000.

can anyone find the last one that was for sale? i know it wasnt long ago (1-1.5 years)..im curious what it sold for...im thinking $6-7,000 but wasnt as nice as the one just purchased.

To the new owner-- post a video and a review of the gun when you get in in 6 months...im very curious how it is. Contact forgotten weapons and bring it to AZ to shoot with him?

I would strongly consider buying 1-2 semi auto's for parts. Is that lower the registered part or the tube? maybe the semi auto's have that same lower? so if it cracks you just swap out

The seller told me that he had dozens of calls and many people willing to buy the gun after I told him that I would buy it. Was he lying? Possibly, but I've done enough gun deals to believe that he wasn't . And I bought the gun, not to do mag dump after mag dump but as someone already mentioned as "a cool collector piece."

When I get the gun, I will definitely post a video of the gun and contact Ian McCullom of Forgotten Weapons (I certainly think a gun like this qualifies)!

Firing without a buffer can damage even a steel receiver. I'm always checking them. You will be fine. Looking forward to your Demro review/video.

Thank you for the info.

Youtube video review will be coming shortly after I get the gun.

Aluminum can be welded and refinished. Not a minor repair but far from exotic work. Look up a professional welder who know how to weld cast aluminum (definitely not the same as welding parts machined from bar stock, lots more silicon in the mix). Unique guns often require a lot more TLC. I think that the briefcase lock is cool even if it is dubious to work reliably.

Get their info

If you pull the trigger and the gun just goes click you may be happy to resell it

Any function guarantee from the seller?

No function guarantee from the seller. But from the pictures, the gun does not appear to be fired much (if at all) and in excellent condition.

The seller told me that he was bombarded with offers for much more than $9K after I bought the gun.

Apparently very few of these full-autos exist.

If I were to sell it, I'd probably put it up for auction.

  • 1 year later...

Hi folks....Noob here. last year I picked up a Demro Tac 1 semi auto (open bolt) with the original briefcase, & austen loader. It has the 3 digit lock and the word "think" at the rear end. Mine is in 9mm (missing the buffer, unfortunately). It's a very cool gun. I paid less for it that for my SR1911 and ma happy happy happy. The last semi sold, that I saw, was on GB and made $2300ish if my memory serves me right.

If anyone has a spare buffer I'd be interested in one (or 2) - LotsaTiques@aolcom

Take Care,

David
