madkiwi
So I will run this by my Class 3 dealer when they open Tuesday, but was wondering how it works. I am the Trustee of my NFA Trust (newly minted) with 3 beneficiaries. I am presuming that means I fill out and sign the form 4, and all of us submit fingerprint cards and photos. Got it. Sections 14-16 (Transferee Questions) says at the top- "Complete Only When Transferee is An Individual". Does that mean this section doesn't get completed when the Transferee is a Trust? Or that I have to submit 4 copies (me and the 3 beneficiaries)? Thanks, Mark
huggytree
This may or may not help you but if its a brand new trust you dont have to put your 3 other people on it yet By doing a trust by yourself. Get the guns in it. Then add your 3 trustees and they need no pics or fingerprints. I started a 2nd trust for this reason. When all my guns are in Ill have my wife added with just a signature. No finger prints or mug shot for her
av8tr
As the old saying goes, "You aren't paranoid if someone is really following you." On the other hand....
huggytree
why trouble others with mug shot/finger prints if there is a way around it...thats how i see it
johnsonlmg41
You won't be filling out #14-16 on the form 4 because you'll be filling out the responsible person form 5320.23 for each person listed in the trust, and effectively the same questions from the form 4 are on there, so it would be redundant to fill them out twice......(even though I've been asked to do so by an examiner)? madkiwi
So the adding/removing trustees after approval is technically a loophole? I like it, but I don't understand how it can be that simple.
huggytree
once the gun is yours you can add to your trust who ever you want...they dont send in finger prints/mug shots...they just get added to the trust and sign a piece of paper start a new trust for yourself...get all your guns, then add your trustees....i think its a loop hole myself....i dont want my wife to have to bother with that stuff...so when my last gun is in my trust in a couple months ill take her in to sign and add her to my trust.... trusts are pretty cheap compared to the guns....couple hundred bucks....if you change your mind and get another gun, just do another trust....ive got 2 trusts....i started the 2nd one after rust change....
