This may sound like a shameless shill for Tim at Shuff's Parkerizing, Greg at Standard Parts LLC, and Mike Baker as himself. That's because it is! These guys provided all the parts and machine work to get this project together-and at a reasonable price. First, the parts from Greg were all either new or as close to new as can be. I got the entire trigger group, bolt, swivels. sights, gas cylinder, op-rod, mag catch, muzzle device-everything but the barrel and stock from Greg. The stock is an original Beretta from Mike Baker. Tim Shufflin machined the receiver-which duplicated every cut from an original receiver that was provided as a pattern by Mike Baker, duplicated the barrel, using an original Silma as a pattern, from a Criterion blank, parkerized and assembled the whole thing. This is by far the smoothest functioning rifle I own, with better fit and finish than the original. Anyway, some pics. Excuse the quality as they were shot with an old point and shoot.

And a trip to the range. My bud took his SAI M1A.

The shots way high are from the M1A. The ones in about the right place are from the Beretta. Ammo was a mix of WRA White Box and Argy Milsurp, so we were pretty much shooting for function and not accuracy. My next outing was shot with LC 7.62 and the group was about 1/2 the size. I was on the fence between the Beretta and an M1A but since Reese is gone, and the supply of Beretta parts seem to be a bit scarce, I figured let me strike while the iron is hot.

BTW, I have the bi-pod also. Just never put it on yet.
