Built By George Himself...

Not that I'm interested in purchasing, but I was curious about this one myself. I dropped him an email and asked if it was FA and also requested pictures. I'll let you know if he gets back to me. As fast as Thompsons sell, I'll bet it disappears before he gets a chance to answer.

"A picture is (or would be) worth a thousand words."

The part about it using "modified" magazines sounds like a WH/Kahr 27A1 to me. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif

It would be intresting to see.

It would be obscene to ask that kind of price for a Kahr 27. I was thinking it might be one of commemoratives. Well, we'll see.

I received a response. Apparently this is a semi that had been converted to full auto with a registered kit. I'm still waiting for pictures and the make of the gun. I'm guessing it will be a converted late model semi, probably without a fire control selector. If that's the case, I don't see the advantage of this, since you could almost get the W.H. full auto for this price.

True but then the W.H. full auto you get would not have been assembled by Mr. Numrich himself which I am sure justifies the extra few grand in price. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

Jim-

Not sure why I didn't think of that. You always did have a NAC for such things. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I wonder if this gun was converted with a Broadhead Armoury registered firing pin? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

I remember one guy telling me that he had a 27A1 that had an extensivly modified 28 bolt and acuator in it. The receiver had been modified also and registered as a machine gun before the 86 ban.

Who knows whats out there! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

I never heard back from the seller. I wonder if it's sold, or maybe he just read our comments and decided we weren't worth a response. I would still like to know it that piece had been an early conversion. Anyone else hear anything?

For those of you who might be interested, here is an update on this conversion gun: It has FA selector switch and is definitely one of the 27s that had a registered conversion.

It's not a bad looking conversion, but is it worth $10,500? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif

Ron - It is NO 3284. Are these converted by some type of kit?

well well.one of my babies.it's now worth $25,000.00 wink!!{since i owned it} ha!ha!

i know who i sold it to,and i don't think it is the same guy selling it.it was also a range rental gun for awhile.

i am sure reblued by now...............it was half the price that it is for sale now for...............offer him $8,500.00 as i am sure he is still making a killing at that...........it was a semi 27 converted to full auto............and registered as such.before 1986...................

it would be something different to have because it still say's semi 27 thompson carbine on the side of it.unless since remarked................go for it you can't lose............

and its a full auto.......

i have no intention of buying it back..............just nice to know something turned up for somebody.............wink!! take care, ron

So was it really assembled personally by Numrich?

So was it really assembled personally by Numrich?

nope by elves at the north pole.....how should i know,i bought it from vollmer he bought it from them.............and i don't think they would even know if or who assembled it......it was made prior 1986..........{ just that somebody there did it,maybe it was his personal gun}

but i never saw a letter stating that!!or any documentation,if the new owner has this........it would be great to see..........since it probably has had four owner's since............and nobody ever tracked it down through me in 14 years........

its nothing rare......just one converted 45acp. semi carbine to full auto.with proper part's.and lower frame with detach stock........and it was in nice shape,at least when i transferred it........because the customer was happy, never returned it or wanted a refund......anyways as i stated in my last post.......a good deal for somebody in the $8,500.00 range...more then that i would still look around...unless somebody has to have it bad.offer $9,000.00.......he must want to sell it ,because it's advertised.wink!!

[uPDATE}i just went and saw those pics of it.........my $8,500.00 stands since you want to put 28 selector switches in it,and get out those m1/m1a1 switches,

and yes i know all about them being put in later 1928's.....the early one's look better.........

heck sgt, explain to the guy you know all about it.....you really want to have it but $8,500.00 is in your wallet now...sad to say next year he probably will get $10,000.00 for it..........wink!! i am sure this did not help you much...........but its not my gun anymore, and he is selling it not me!!

so you have to be ready for the "thompson greed"

ron

good luck

take care,ron

You know, Ron, before I put that much money in something like that, I would much rather have that pitted 28 with a lot more character.

sgt. i understand you completely.{ and i like the web-page, some thought's there!}however when i saw that pitted rusted hulk, and the price i ran to the closet, wink!!

i have two avenues that i approach........it's either going to be minty, new cond,95% or better.....

or i want something with mark's wear, battle scar's {gangster wear},that's a new one!!

and some history to it.no in between with me.......and i fail to see anything in what the guy is asking for that poor baby thompson.....$13,000.00 plus.......do you realize if he had any sense to market it.a refinish, new part's,barrel and all........and someone out there likes the smell of new.and gladly pay's $15,000.00

and let me tell you sgt.everybody likes crispy new........and don't anybody ever tell you different in collecting gun's.that is the holy grail for anybody in the gun market...........the best of the best...........somebody has a colt walker pistol with history..the one in 99% get's mo money.............

same with the thompson's,if that was not the truth then a 90% gun should be the same value as a 95% since wait!! they are both thompson's........i feel the semi/full would be a better deal even at $9,000.00 then the pitted 1928a1 at even $12,000.00

now just get the guy to sell you the 1928a1 for $10,000.00 and fancy it up...........however i am sure the guy give's two bits about it.and is waiting for some sucka to give him his $13,000.00 plus...........then rant look what i got for that piece of krap.........heck now the other one i have must be worth $20,000.00

okay my logic to some might not make sense..............then again those some that think that.probably have not been doing the game for 30 plus years...............ya become jaded.............wink!! take care, ron

you decide it is your dollar.
