Just Got "american Thunder Ii!"

Recommended Posts

Two days ago, I got my copy of "American Thunder II" in the mail, pruchased directly from Frank off of ebay (hey, I'd rather the money go directly to the author anyway). Obviously, I haven't read it all yet, but went over it over the past two nights.

Wow. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

I knew this would be a good book, but had no idea HOW good it was going to be. I don't think there will be any TMSG question I'll have after reading this massive book. The only way this could have been improved would be a hard binding and all color photos, but I know that would have raised the price dramatically, so I'm fine with the way it is. I also didn't realize there would be so much pre-war information here, which is great as I didn't want to buy more than one book on this subject. I'm sure I bought the right one.

Frank, you did good. I'm a very harsh judge of reference books, and I think you really hit the mark on this one!

I bought two copies of the book from Long Mountain Outfitters at Knob Creek last week. I had to give Dan some business (I hope Frank gets royalties). It is a great book. I normally hate buying thick, informative gun books with lots of photos of guns and accessories, because it makes me obsess over a gun to the point where I have to get one. No problem here as I already have a 1921 and an M1A1 (although I do have difficulty making it past the pages that have 1928's). It's been a year since I donated to the site, so I guess I could do that (or buy another book from the site). Speaking of Knob Creek, it was nice meeting the couple people from the site who were brave enough to stop and chat with us. I kept telling Greg his goofy hat was scaring people away. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

Funny you say that, about the hat, that is the same thing Greg said about you! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Got my book from the here also, along with the CD (too bad can't order parts at the listed prices).

Only one problem with the book that I found ... getting harder and harder not to get a '28 to go with the M1 .... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

You think that reading American Thunder II makes you want a Thompson...How do you think I felt while doing the research? ...

I already have a few TSMGs so wanting another wasn't too big a concern, but I did get a number of accessories for "research purposes".

When I was doing the Reising book I bought 5 of them! Of course they were considerably cheaper in 1996.

Regards!

Frank

Actually any firearm is lower in cost before one of your books come out ... once the book is out everyone wants what the book was on .....

What are you working on next http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Could use a good book on anti tank rifles and light cannon ...............
