DZelenka
I am looking to have my Lend Lease M3 refinished with an original looking black painted finish. What gunsmiths out there would be best for such a project? Dan
Got Uzi
You could do it yourself. Its not hard at all. The British used black stove paint on everything. I used Valspar high temp on mine. Cleaned the metal, scuffed it up, heated it with a propane torch, then sprayed it, then scuffed it with 00 steel wool, and painted it again. The gun came out great and there are pictures on here of it.

Got Uzi
I can't get the link to paste for some reason. If you search under on this section for "M3 refinish" it will be the second one from the top.

I prefer the paint since it is not as hard wearing as some more modern type finishes and allows for wear to show on the finish. The guns take on a used look after some use with scrapes and nicks. Always easily repaired if they get too bad but so far I haven't repainted either.
Got Uzi
Mine has worn in nicely and looks like the old war horse when I first bought it.
Adg105200
Looks nice! Does it seem to hold up pretty good solvents and oils? I mean compared to ceramic finishes? Andrew

Andrew I clean the painted Stens with CLP which has not effected the paint at all. Comparing a painted finish to ceramic is apples and oranges.
