More Work For U. S. Customs And Atf

Recommended Posts

Just checked out a new sublist at www.GunsAmerica.com called Demilled/ non-firing Rifles/Pistols/Shotguns. Looks like oleg G. is going to make a lot of sales in the USA and Customs and BATF will have their work cut out for them. The screaming you will hear will be from the unsuspecting buyers. What do you think about the "deactivated" thompsons, stens with new tubes and templates and russian machineguns. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif

Hmmm Being a total newbie to this, I emailed the guy.... So now I'm like feeling pretty ignorant..... I bought a parts kit on auction arms, and it appears the person uses the same picture over and over and you get whatever gun they send... So I guess I'll just hang around the message board, and travel the road of hard knocks for a while

"GunsAmerica is a directory service, nothing more.." - so says their disclaimer. Someone is ging to get burned and badly. Unfortunately the first victims will be the unsuspecting new collectors who will only be able to plead ignorance of the law. Perhaps GunsAmerica could face some sort of charge as facilitating an illegal transaction. This will be interesting to watch. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif

Z3BigDaddy,

Please keep us abreast of what transpires with your ordering a parts kit. I assume it was a reciever - less kit, or at least a ATF approved cut up one (3 pieces, torch cut, etc.) If it was something else... let us know what happens next!

Could you also post the picture from the auction arms listing? Thanks!

Good luck.

The above is the pics of auction gun.... The seller claims the gun pictured is no better than the one I received and that his camera makes the wood look more brown that it is....

Pics above are the gun I received... It absolutely is not the gun in the auction, the cut is not the same, and definitely different wood. If I pay shipping both ways he will take gun back.... He never once has offered an explanation of why I did not receive the gun pictured... Maybe he didn't like the bid or something.... It also took a long time to ship... Perhaps he had to purchase the gun with my money? My biggest mistake is I left feedback before I really looked it over as I was so exited to get it.... So like I said..... I begin the long road of hard knocks to Thompson ownership... §8-)

I picked the gun above up at the Reno show last weekend,,, I'm a little more proud of this buy.... Paid $750 for it with four mags.... The finish was kinda funky but I went for it anyhow... Turns out it was just dried on oil from days gone by when someone really caked it on. Comes right off w/WD40 and is pristine underneath. You can see the before and after in the bottom pic.

Well, I think you are in luck... sort of. Looks like the kit you recieved is a ATF legal kit (looks like it anyway).

The things for sale at the website above are defintely not ATF acceptable (my opinion, of course). Good you didn't get one of those.

New wood or a little work and a dummy reciever would make that kit into a nice looking dummy gun. Go for it - good luck!

The parts kit on the glass case was pictured for months on ebay. I'm guessing he uses the same picture over and over, so that is probably why you can't get the same one in the picture. The original is probably long gone.

One important thing to remember is ask questions first and lots of them, be very specific. Tell them you want pictures of the one you will get and serial #s if any. If they are legit and really want your buisness the will do it hassle free.
