Recommended Posts

I dis-assembled my BAR and noticed the gas tube slide and piston were loose is this a normal condition?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks Eric, I have a lot of movement but it operates fine; I just want to make sure it will not cause any excessive wear issue's.

Is your WW2 or WW1 ??? Should be easy to replace WW2 and it should be tight. I would correct that issue.

Should wiggle a little . There is only a couple of thousandth clearance between piston and cylinder , far too little for a ridged rod of that length to hold . As the piston enters the cylinder , gas pressure will cause it to find it's own center . Same for coming out . This is why you see pics of Marines stripping their BARs after a beach landing , one grain of sand there will lock her up . Otherwise , she's about bulletproof .
