Tommy Came Home

Recommended Posts

my group industries TSMG...1928 came back from PK today. PK did a great job and I could not have been more pleased with it.

I got it several months ago to use as a shooter...and it was an odd thing with a M1 trigger frame and a plain barrel and comp and non functional locking system. I swapped out the wrong parts an sent it to PK for his magic.

He relocated the locking slots, rebarreled it with a finned barrel and cmpensator; installed a lyman adjustable sight, fixed the sloppy fit of the trigger frame, and did a bunch of other stuff to bring it into pretty close to mil spec. He topped it off with a great matte black oxide finish.

Looks great, shoots great....thanks PK

I didn't know Group Industries made any Thompson's. I knew of the Uzi and BAR's, which I want one, but not Thompson's. Send me some pics or post them please.

This thompson was apparantly for sale at Knob Creek last year and lots of people passed on it....and perhaps for good reason.I bought it at the atlanta show later that year and got delivery last fall after ATF paperwork was approved. PK's magic made this one work out well. After getting it back yesterday and shooting it and looking all through it I cannot find anything I'd have wanted to be different.

I got hooked up with PK through this board so thanks to all of you for the great recommendations of him.

Group Industies TSMGs are not very plentiful and I am happy to add this one to my '21a Colt as I keep working on my thompson collection.

If anyone needs another PIC from a different angle or anything like that, let me know.

Really nice Tommygun!

Great pictures!

I don't know much about Group Industries. I think they went bankrupt years ago.

I know they also made M-16-A1 stainless steel lowers.

That is such a fine looking Thompson, and such a great story about Paul getting her up to par, made me walk down to the safe and get mine out. Just to hold awhile.

I don't know anything about Group Industires, but I cannot help but note the Louisville, Ky, zipcode. That is just a few miles from where I grew up (tear). What's the story there?

finish is PK's matte black oxide on all parts. Looks great and was very well applied. I could not be more pleased with he quality of his work. The gun shoots softly...just like a 28 is supposed to with a well functioning blish lock. shot several mags and a L and C drum....and it functioned without a hitch...using military brass cased and steel cased ammo.

The story posted on the Vector Arms website a few years back was that Group Industries had gone into receivership and had its assests sold off shortly after HR4223 forbade the adding of any more machine guns to the civil register in 1986. They had made a number of Uzi receivers prior to the ban, and Vector bought these. Complete guns were made with unused South African parts, and the guns are very nice indeed. The model number on the gun (which carries both Group and Vector markings) is "HR4223". They have since sold out of full size Class III Uzis.
