giantpanda4
Check out this drum: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7111226439&rd=1 I saw this somewhere before. Looks like it is missing the key. Are the rotors correct? Reserve says $395. Could be a good buy. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif
john
Looks as if it's been carried quite a bit loaded (look at the wear inside the drum)... May be a deal depending on the price. Guess that a replacement key would be a bill or more?? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif john
ODS9091
Jard to tell from the photo, but an original Crosby would have a nickle rotor shaft, but at least it is hollow so we can safely assume it is not a WH shaft?
hughlong
.....not just the rotor shaft, but the entire rotor ought to be nickled. Is a bridgeport or seymore rotor with a Crosby drum body and a Crosby cover...but no key.
Sig
A Crosby would not have a nickel rotor or rotor shaft, just blue.
gijive
Mike, The Crosby drums according to Cox and Hill had nickel colored rotors, not blue. Some may have been replaced with blue rotors, because according to Cox the Crosby nickel rotors weren't terribly reliable.
Sig
Well my apologies. Unfortunately I am not able to reference any books. I am surprised they have nickel rotors. I was going from memory on Doug Richardson's book Guess I better watch my memory! I am going to check this when I get home and see exactly what Doug says in his drum book. Sig
I took a quick look in Cox and Hill and could not find any reference to a nickel colored rotor on Crosby, maybe I missed it but I could not find it. HOWEVER In Cox's book it was noted on page 32 "painted black and the rotors are quite crude. They look like they were hammered out of a Crisco can." AND in Doug's book Driver finish: Some sort of silver colored plating Special Observation: Driver, Case, and Hub are finished in a dull silvery plating..... General workmanship is shabby compared to other models.
