deerslayer
Tom is gonna tell the story on these, but I'm starting it off since I can post the picture. We have two sets of wood in the 1921 standard shape, Iowa black walnut, crotch grain. Birchwood casey true oil finish. No stain of any type. Buttplates I acquired. Damon provided the stock slide assemblies. Tom will have to tell the rest. He was ducking hurricanes during the process. 21 smoker
Thanks Dan!...The top gun is WH 28 that Paul Krogh reworked, added 21 style controls and a Lyman rear sight, tightened upper to lower fit, reramped the blish lock slots, refinished entirely,and...oh ya...made it work! The bottom gun is Colt 21ac,the `New York Daily News` thompson, with PK`s 21 internals,Damon`s slide that really tightens up the old girl....and in case you haven`t noticed, both have received Dan Block`s finest American homegrown wood! I can`t thank all of you enough that helped with this project, the function of both of these Thompsons is as good as they look,I`m one proud papa. We, in the NFA community are very fortunate to have such Craftsmen to rely on. Thanks again guys!... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

21 smoker
Thanks guys for the nice words,.... I believe the story behind the N.Y. Daily News gun is that it was procured to guard their substantial payroll at the time...Nov.28 ,1921...Roaring 20s,prohibition,etc....I always thought it was kinda cool owning a Thompson that was owned by a liberal newspaper from New York city...sort of adds to the lore of the Thompson... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Zamm
21 Smoker, Ya gotta live here to understand the distinctions of our local papers: http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Post - Conservative Daily News - moderate Times - Liberal Wallstreet Journal - Op-Ed page super conservative, bulk of the paper - moderate Newsday - depends on the day AM New York - who the hell knows, but it's free!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif And thus it goes...
