MP40 franks is selling

Recommended Posts

Pictures suck. Why take all the close up of the mags and pouch if they are not included in the sale. The sling is not a MP-40 sling. Looks like it has three cuts in it, so is for a Rifle, not the MP-40.

Until you see photos, that show what "all" the matching numbers are, then I would proceed with caution.

The current photos leave alot to be desired.

nice to show a Nazi flag prominently when its not even part of the sale............1st photo would make you think they are selling Nazi flags

looks too good to be original finish from the pics provided and says # matching, but with no photo proof

top dollar wanted for blah photo's w/ limited verbal information

I agree with everything mentioned so far. I sent off an email asking if the bolt, recoil tube and firing pin are matching too? The slings for these guns have always confused me. The original 40 sling had a diamond pattern on it like the K98 but i see a lot of smooth leather slings claiming to be originals idk. Offering the gun with one mag and no pouch is a joke. The Nazi flag is probably part of the vets bringback booty but not necessary either if its not part of the sale. Edited by Petroleum 1

Refinished for certain. A tip off is that the Bakelite stock has considerable handling rash while the rest of the gun does not. The gun's been buffed. It's a bit too shiny, and the finish is too even. MP-40s had a slightly dull appearance to them when new, not polished at all. The little surface imperfections left over from manufacturing processes were clearly visible. These guns were originally hot dip blued, which wasn't a durable finish. With any handling or use at all the bluing quickly went thin or missing. The pic is of my own MP-40. The finish is thin everywhere, typical of a gun that was issued and used. The gun is otherwise in great shape. This is what you're looking for, or one that's in original new condition. They're rare, but they are out there.

Thanks for that photo tsmg i will use it for reference. Franks will probably discount the gun on the next weekly email. Amazing he can throw this stuff up there mention all matching numbers with no pics of all the matching markings and expect it to be sold. I really believe some of these sellers would rather put less info and just hope they get an impulse sale and be done with it instead of providing the required amount of necessary information. he does it because people see a MP40 and just buy it once in a while....they dont think about the finish or proof its matching numbers....they trust and dont care about pics...no other explanation why all the big sellers give short descriptions and few pics.....yet the guns always sell

i dont know if we are in the minority or not, but i think the big dealers sell to people who are fine with 2-3 pics.......maybe many are rich and just want a machine gun..some dealers seem annoyed when you ask for more pics, like its not normal....many wont give you more or make it a long drawn out thing to get more pics....

The big dealers do not post on the message boards for the most part. I am sure that many are not honest and forthcoming in any information about their NFA for sale. If youve been buying and selling for sometime. The pattern is obvious. If we are speaking about Frank G and a few other high end sellers online. Advertising is everything... Edited by fifthmdec
