Another Pk Miracle

Recommended Posts

Just got my WH28 back from PK and all I can say is WOW!! Got the whole thing refinished in a pleasing matte blue, checkered the safety and selector, remilled the Blish lock channels, pinned the comp., and attached an original Lyman adj. sight. Here's the real cool thing. PK rebarreled my gun and made me a quick change system so I can switch from ball to blanks in no time. Here's a pic with some original WWII equipment.

And for you Marines out there...

Nice looking firearm TMan. What is this quick change thing PK did? How about some close ups? Looks like a keeper. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hope these pics come out. If not, go to My Webpage

PK drilled a small hole in the grip mount for a set screw. Snug the barrel up to the receiver and the set screw keeps it from backing out. Here's what it looks like in normal operating mode.

Here's the barrel off the receiver. Notice the small dimple in the threads.

T-Man--

Enjoyed the pictures. The set screw idea is a great way to go.

Phil,

I get my blanks from Joe Swanson in Az. He makes 'em for the movies (SPR, Windtalkers). He gets custom made brass from Starline and its a little longer that stock .45ACP. The loaded blank is crimped on the end to assist in function.

I took it out the other day and ran a couple of hundred thru it. She runs like a Swiss watch.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Greg

Phil,

“By any chance, do you mill a couple of flats on the last (shoulder) fin, to make the barrel more than finger tight before tightening the set screw?”

The barrels are carefully and closely fitted, they must be clean when being installed and the witness marks will align when the shoulder is abutted against the receiver face. The screw keeps them from turning out and no tools are necessary except the hex key for the screw.

PS I can’t see the photos either.

For some of the pictures, you just right click, then go down to properites. In there copy the link, and paste it to your address bar.

Tman next time you upload to Geocities to avoid these problems, change the file extensions from .gif, .jpg, or .bmp to .txt and upload and link them just like you did.

Smoker,

PK had my 28 for about 2 months. Being a volunteer at a local WWII museum, I got to examine all the TSMG's that they had and reread Frank's and Tracie's books. I collected or replaced most of the WH junk that came on it and left the rest up to the master. We talked on the phone and I explained what I was looking for and he did the rest.

Bob,

Thanks for the hints regarding posting pics.

In fairness to those who are waiting, I have to correct Greg; I had his gun for 3 ½ months. He was obviously carried away by his excitement and the time went by quicker that he thought. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif Good customer to work with. I wish all ATF personnel were like Greg.

I wasn’t thinking of anyone in particular, believe me. I do want to be honest and up front about the current time in shop so every one who is waiting will understand that their place in line is not being usurped. Now that my daughters wedding is over, I hope to get back on track and reduce the wait.

It is what it is, however.

PK,

Define "usurped." http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif
