Did anyone see this in the Joliet Herald News yesterday!! Man remolding his house finds a 1928A1 new thompson and 331 rounds of ammmo and original reciept from the hardware store about 1930 in a bag inside a wall he was remoldling in his new home. I guess the realstate person called the unscrupulose Joliet Police dept and reported it. Bad Move! Any way they came out and confiscated it saying It is illeagle to posse in the state of Ill. The paper article also quoted a few others at the police dept. stating the want to ad it to the police collection or arsonal!! Do you see what is wrong here? It's plain and simple. I forgot to ad the homeowner wants it back for his keeping. .......Don't you think somebody should have used there head and called the ATF and had them run a registry number check on it. And it's unlikely the owner of the house is a class three statuse.{You have to Be in Ill. to have full auto and be a dealer also} Or maybe make a deal with ATF and ask them to cut it into a parts kit which would really be ashame but I see no other way for the finder to keep it. Donate it to a museum? Any thoughts on this? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Slowfinger

slowfinger, ATF doesn't make deals! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif Someone should have STFU, but oh well, another Tommy bites the dust, due to stupidity and some very stupid laws. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif Regards, Walter

P.S. This is like finding a rare gold doubloon, piece of eight, etc. washed-up on the shores of Florida and immediately reporting it to The Bureau Of Land Management, The Maritime Commission, the local Historical Society, the IRS, the EPA, and your long lost relatives, etc. Soon, everyone will have a "legitimate" legal claim to it and you will be screwed! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif :-(

I sure as hell wouldn't have said anything! I I seriously doubt that IF someone here stumbled on such a find, the first thing they would do is call their local Sheriff! That Dude should have cached it for the long term! That's the way I feel about it, and I know everyone here feels the same way.
