kyle
Given the chance to attend only one of these events; the TCA Convention in August or Knob Creek in October, which would you choose. While I don't care to blow up a Port-a-Potty, I would like the chance to see a bunch of neat guns and hopefully pick up some accessories/parts for my TSMG. TIA! ftc3906
It is my understanding that the TCA Convention is the more refined of the two events.
Chopper28
You will see more TSMG related stuff at the TCA. At KC you will see a much larger assortment of automatic weapons and accesories for sale and in actual use. Sometimes you can find good deals at KC depending on what you are looking for and how hard you search. I plan on and would recommend going to both. You will have a good time at either one. Nick Iannamico
No offense to anyone who lives in Kentucky, but there are some damn scary looking people at Knob Creek!
Walter63a
Nick, define, 'scary looking.' http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif Is it the beards, or that peculiar "Deliverance" look in the eyes of some(no offense intended, of course-I sport a full beard and mustache)? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Regards, Walter P.S. Regarding the original question(topic), I think that the TCA Show will be exceptionally good this year!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif

Murray
Well, I'm going to the Thompson Collectors show at Fairfax in August and I am about as refined as one could get! see ya'l there.
junglewalk
Kyle, go to the Thompson TCA, Knob creek will probably flood this time; Too early in the spring, and it's raining all the time. (Iwould like to go too) I try to stay out of McDonalds, because of the millions that go from 'Ronald McDonald's House" to Sara Brady's Handgun Control/Violence Prevention Ctr/Gun Safety bs center what-ever her anti-gun org is now.! On the other hand, 'Burger King's" ads with 'Ramada Inn's" ads are on Hunting & Shooting shows on ESPN, especially on Saturday. So the wife & I try to stop at Burger Kings & stay over night at Ramada Inns while out traveling... Have fun at the TCA event, & bring back some pictures for us to see. I am a transplant in Kentucky, that came from a rat-hole called Brooklyn NY......I love this state & the sometimes crazy people, and have been trying to blend in for over 30 years. So excuse my beard, overalls, weight, attitude, and mud on my face & hands, y'all.....feel the love...........jw http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif
john
Well, I have other plans in August, but I haven't missed a Springtime trip to Knob Creek for a few years.....and I don't miss the rain either! Junglewalk is right....too early can add up to "too wet"....then everything turns to muck! BUT it's still a fun trip. Last spring we didn't get down to shoot at all.....too much water, then they closed the lower range altogether! That may be the case this year, but MAYBE the weather will cooperate?? and it'll be nice? Anyway, we're taking our chances and will have fun WET OR DRY!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Wolfer and Junglewalk, looking forward to seeing you both there (and partying at the hotel??) Anyone else, we'll figure out a meeting place and time..... I've found some incredible deals on parts there.....brand new barrels, mags and miscellaneous little parts. Also cases and cases of ammo go home with us every year! If you've never been there, it's worth a trip! john
beechnut
I've made it to KCR once in the Spring. I won't be going back. It's an exhibition first, a show second, a match third, and lastly a shoot. If you're going to shoot, you'll likely be disapointed. We have local shoots here in Tx that far exceed the number of public shooters sending lead downrange than KCR. That may be my personal perspective, but I've heard similar opinions from other folks. If you're local to KCR, great, go, enjoy. If you have to drive several hundred miles, I'd pass. I've never been to the TCA show. The range in Camden, TN is campaigning to establish a more public friendly event. Their next shoot is in a few weeks (March 20-21). I've never been, but I'll be there this Spring. Here's the link. Tennesee Firearms Training Complex - March Machinegun Madness If anyone from the TSMG board plans on attending, let me know. You're welcome to take a turn at my lowly WH. JimFromFL
Back to the original question at hand... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif This Thompson show is the first and may be the last in this area as they are usually held in Ohio. The knob creek shoot is twice a year so you have plenty of time to catch another show if you miss this.
