StrangeRanger
99% chance you're right but if it exists someone will want that grip frame
reconbob
That frame is in bad shape. Some pitting and the front faceis badly damaged/dented probably from someone trying to hammerit off the receiver (without pulling the trigger, without pushing in theframe latch, etc,) many years back when it was just a "gun" and nota defacto piece of art like today. So this raises a good question. What,s more valuable - #9283 say, 85% with a mismatched 85% trigger frame? Or #9283 with thismatched 50% (or less) trigger frame? I think that unless the rest of the gun is in as poor condition asthe frame, the frame would lower the value. TD? This is right up your alley! What say you? Rimcrew
This thing has been on Gunbroker for over a year. Looks like no one wants a $1,500 hammer.
TD.
reconbob,I say the frame for NO 9283 is now a display piece! This Colt's frame and butt stock surfaced several years ago as part of a World War II Thompson gun. Given the sling swivel on the buttstock and serial number range, I would guess NO 9283 was one of the 3000 Colt's shipped to the French military before they surrendered to Germany during WWII. Attached is a picture. I would also guess the receiver for NO 9283 is no more but these Colt's have an amazing way of surviving. I will say if the receiver looks anything like the frame, the value would be minimal. All good stuff!
