blhar15
I am new to Thompsons but am considering purchasing a pre-dealer sample M1A1. I am a Class III dealer. Just wondering if there are certain things to look for and avoid when buying a Thompson? Thanks
21 smoker
blhar15,...being a classIII already, you must have seen premays before,....the same principles apply with Thompsons as with STens,BARs,etc.,...they would be predominately 50+years old and subject to arsanol rebuilds,as well as rewelded...that is the main issue for me...if it is a reweld and how well was it done...if it is not a reweld, than chances are it would make a good shooter and a display piece...rewelding can be done properly and safely...rebuilding does not seem to hurt the value of these type of premays...hth... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif
