Rabbit57
I have read that early Crosby 30 round magazines would not fit the Thompson M1 properly. There was a fix, and many of the magazines were altered. Is there any way to tell if a Crosby magazine has been altered? With the price of these magazines climbing, maybe it is just a better idea to pass on Crosby 30 rounders. 1921A
The XXXs modified for the M1 are easy to spot. The feed lip protrusion on the front of the magazine is ground off leaving grinding marks and touch up bluing visible. I think samples of these are pictured in the Magazine section of Pinned Topics. Rabbit57
Excellent, thanks 1921A. Now that I know what to look for, there is no reason to shy away from Crosby mags.
StrangeRanger
IIRC there are some later manufactured Crosbys that have the lip at the same height as the Seymours
TSMGguy
I don't know about modifications, but I've never gotten a Crosby XXX mag that didn't work perfectly. I have many, including most that came out of the original factory red waxed cheesecloth wrap. Don't pass these up. They're well made, and are the only original USGI XXX mags that are marked US 30 CARTRIDGE CAL 45.
