OCM
Jim Knight called me today, said that Boots Hinton had passed away a couple weeks ago. Boots was the good old story teller at the Bonnie & Clyde Museum in Gibsland, La where the couple were killed. His father, Ted Hinton, was one of the guys in the ambush. Sat around the swimming pool one night, at the Days Inn in Gibsland , drinking Scotch with Boots- One of the B&C Festivals there. Interesting fellow, will be missed by many. OCM
No, that's the movie death car the late Ken Holmes owned. It's in the new crime museum I think, Alcatraz East. As far as I know Ken's son owns it and leases it back to the museum. They used to use it at the Bonnie & Clyde Festival in Gibsland LA every year. The original death car is still owned by the casino, as far as I know.I know the Dillinger car is in the museum, I'm pretty sure this movie car is too. They just opened the Museum on the 16th.
TEXAS MGC
If I remember correctly I think that photo was taken in 1996 or 1997. Of course the movie car pictured hasn't been back to Gibsland in several years. Riding in that car with Boots was one of my best memories with him. Ken Holmes was an awesome man too. OCM
Here is an interesting comparison: Clyde's door on the original death car- (One of the photos I took while researching the death car) and a pictures of Boots holding open Clyde's door on the movie car. OCM
Boots didn't own the museum, just worked there in Gibsland. I'm not up to date on what the museum is doing now, it's owned by a guy named Perry Carver ( I think that's the correct last name). I've talked to Perry years ago, don't remember about what. The original owner, Ken Holmes, who I knew pretty well, passed away and Perry bought it. Boots may of had some interest in it ? OCM
