wcwarren
My father had this in his collection. I know there's not a lot of information on them. I have attached several pictures. Does this appear to be an original stock or a reproduction? My father had it for at least 20+ years. I can provide more pictures if that will help. heavy artillery
I can't say definitively but the counters look good and the hardware looks original. There aren't any stock reinforcements/tie screws (I've seen other 55s both with/without) and the wood around the front stock retaining plate appears to have been repaired (which may impact value). BORE
Looks correct from those pictures.Remove two screws that hold the hinge , take the plate off and post the picture of the wood under it.That might help to give a better idea about authenticity.BORE. BORE
Interesting. All the stocks that I have had (at least 6 ) were fitted with small threaded inserts for two machine screws that hold the hinge in place . I do not see them in your stock . Also, one of the holes looks to be re-drilled. I haven't seen that kind of flaw in the original accepted stocks before . Just my two cents. johnsonlmg41
I don't know that I've seen them with a 3 screw trigger guard? The filler by the front clip seems suspicious. The hardware seems too "blued" The angle of the stock seems off?Seems very clean/newer? If it's a repro, it's a pretty good one and nobody has dropped it or dinged the wood in 80 years? BORE
Have seen them with 3 screw trigger guards ( milled and stamped ) with honest wear/discoloration of the wood/finish under the metal to guarantee the originality.BORE.
