Walter63a
QUOTE (dalbert @ Feb 13 2005, 06:55 PM) Walter, I own 2 M-16's, and I've never had any of the trouble that you mention. The only jams I've experienced occur if I don't clean them for over 1000 rounds. If I had to pick one, that would be it. If I had to pick one semi-auto, it would be an FAL. I love my WH M1, but I just don't shoot it as much as the M-16's. I usually put 5 or 6 mags through the M-16's for every 30-round mag through the Thompson, plus several others. You can't beat the Thompson for history, though, and I'm definitely a historian... David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com David, you are right. I've never had any trouble with my AR-15. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif I guess it's all the battlefield horror stories I've heard from guys who were in Vietnam, Desert Storm I, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. A lot of those guys preferred the AK to the guns 'Uncle Sam' was providing, due to malfunctions. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif The AK has had the deserved reputation of, "taking a licking and yet it keeps on ticking." http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Regards, Walter
full auto 45
It's a early Russin import by B-west. At least thats all I can find about it. I have read B-West imported russian AK's in the 70's and 80's and put their reciever on it for the US market. It was hard to find info on them. I just sold another just like it, but unfired. philasteen
Well, I'd love a Colt Thompson as my choice. But if I can only have one, the utility of a Thompson in a real crisis is a lot less than that of a M16 or an AK. So I am going with the M16. timkel
Only one? OK, that have to be the M-16. http://www.hunt101.com/img/144945-big.jpg
Z3BigDaddy
Hey Mikey I gots one of those.... Tried to sell it here with no luck....... http://mail.roadfly.com/z3bigdaddy/underfolder1.jpg "B-West did import early Chinese Guns that did lack all Manufactures Markings, except the Serial Number, and the B-West Name. These were early Guns, and later ones were marked as to the Manufacture. Either Norinco or Polytech. B-West also imported the Polytech Legend, prior to Kengs Firearm Specialty, but these early Legends have been known to crack with less than 2000Rds fired due to improperly Heat Treated Receivers.. " LH I think that is what I have! The only markings are the serial number and the place that imported it......

marks
I'm gonna be a little different here... While I'd lean towards the M16, I'm gonna go with a Flemming sear for the HK family of rifle's. With one you can build up a G3, G3K, 51, 51K, MP5,MP5SD... Well, you get the idea. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Roland the Thompsongunner
I own quite a few different guns, My favorite overall to shoot is the PPSH41..cheap parts and drums and converts to 9mm in about a minute and uses the same mags for either caliber. For me, it is more comfortable to shoot than my Thompson. A far a keeping one as collectible, it would be the Thompson 28A1 Roland

kyle
While I love my Thompsons with all my heart, if I could have only 1 machine gun, it was be an M-16. No question about it. When you consider its cailber flexibility, availability of parts, firepower, cool look, ability to mount all sorts of optics, light weight, and so on... it's just an unbelievable firearm. And we're not far from its' 50th birthday!
Waffen Und Bier
Stoner 63A That is the ultimate "if I could only have one machinegun" gun. You get a Carbine, Rifle, Bren, Belt fed, Commando, etc. That is it. The Kitty's PJ's. I don't have one and have not lived a day that I haven't kicked myself in the arse for passing on one when it was cheap (relatively speaking of course). Fortunately, this is the United States of (I can own as many fargin' machineguns as I want) America and I've got (or have owned) a lot of what's already been listed. Duplicates somewhat so my two sons will have less to fight about (1921AC v M1A1, M79 v M203, M16A1 v AR15 601, MP40 v MP44, M10 v M11, etc).
