For sale; one 1928 overstamp Colt Navy Thompson. This is the Colt 1921 Thompson that the US Navy adopted as the model 1928. The original finish retains about 90% blue and the stocks show about 70% finish. The forward vertical grip has been refinished or replaced. This gun is priced at $24,000 and is registered on form 3 in Fla. Please remove nospam to email for further information.

What's going on here? Usually when something doesn't sell, you lower the price. The Thompson world raises their's. I've seen this happen several times. There's not even a respectable time gap between ads, so you can blame market inflation.

How can you tell the vertical foregrip has been replaced by looking at these pictures? This is not meant to be sarcastic but I would like to learn as much as I can about identifing the colt Thompsons as I continue to look toward buying one this year. Thanks Rob

In my opinion, that is the original front grip for a Colt Thompson. Apparently someone affixed some sort of attachment to the bottom of the grip to act as a sling swivel possibly? It's hard to tell if the grip has been refinished, from the photos provided, but the contours and size are correct for a genuine Colt era Thompson. The whole gun looks original to me, although obviously it should be inspected in person.
