huggytree
according to this article from 1985 it is!!! thought it was an interesting read...i agree with some of the things, not with others
smkummer
Can't make out the article but I have both models of M6 and a 1928A1 as well. The number 1 reason I would choose the M6 is weight. Number 2 is the progressive trigger, its easy with no thinking involved. Number 3 is weight. Number 4 is easier to take apart and clean ( of course a M1 Thompson is easier to clean than a 28A1) and number 5 is...... the weight!
lonniejt
I did not read the article, but my money goes for the Ingram M6. I have shot both. The Ingram is superior in many aspects!. One, it is lighter. Two, it is more reliable since it is an open bolt design. Three, the rate of fire is less than the Thompson. Four, the cost of the Ingram M6 to produce is 1/3 of the Thompson. The ratio today is probably greater. Five, it is much lighter than the Thompson...worth saying again! Six, repair parts would be easier to manufacturer. Seven, it is a better "close quarters weapon" than the Thompson because of the dimensions. The magazines is a retractor; however, a Thompson Magazine can be easily modified to substitute for an original M6 Magazine. Ingram M6 gets my vote everytime. Grease Gun might be a different story! dalbert
My vote is for the M1 Thompson above the Ingram Model 6. I own both. The magazine on the Model 6 is the main detractor. The Thompson is also easier to troubleshoot during a jam (though that rarely happens), while the M6 has a deep chamber that is difficult to visually check. Just my $.02. huggytree
that deep chamber is like a huge funnel...along with the wide open mags is it possible to jam up a m6?
