pitfighter
Hi there, My Bren semi is being very slowly being built across the country. In the meantime I've been assembling accessories and spare parts. I have this nifty canvas barrel carrier, does anyone have a breakdown of what parts should go in the pockets, obviously the big pocket is for the spare barrel, lol, I have that already. It would be fun to fill the other five or so pockets per the old army manual recommendations. Thanks!
johnsonlmg41
While there are variations of carriers and different parts/ tools over the years, this is the best I can do in the photo. The little bottom pouch I think is for a period (depending on the period and country) oil can. What I haven't figured out is what goes in the square section in the bottom of the crate (where the rectangular oil can is now that doesn't actually go there Maybe a square style vickers type?) , and what specifically goes in the left end rear hole of the crate (I have a brush in there now, but I don't think that's correct?)HTH
pitfighter
That's an excellent photo and very helpful, Johnson LMG. I found another one on line and bought one of the ivory bottles and some cleaning kit parts.I do like how much cheaper the Brit stuff is compared to German WW2 items, we'll see how long that lasts. It's kind of over already. Not that it's close to German stuff, but many British collectibles have at least doubled in the last couple years. Some Enfield rifles that were dirt cheap are now going up, Bren tripods once common and 3-400 are pushing 1000+. The low end stuff just had nowhere else to go and some of it is getting tougher to find. Back in the day I was paying 1000 for MGZ scopes and lafettes, now they are triple plus, but I did recently sell an Enfield sniper scope for 1700.....a spare since I paid an outrageous sum for a mostly complete rig. It was missing the telescope, which is bringing crazy money.
