New Old Drum On Gunbroker

Recommended Posts

I just hit the "Buy it Now" on a new old AO "L" drum on Gunbroker. The seller said it was at least 15 yrs old and had "Export Only" stamped on it. Fuzzy pic but it looks unused. How did I do guys? $600.00 shipped with a repop drum pouch.

I have one of these older drums and it runs like a top

You are lucky. I am glad I got rid of mine back a couple of years ago. You couldn't even fingerstrip rounds.

On the bright side, if we have another mag ban, you will double your money. I hope it works well.

Yeah .. I bought it off Gunbroker then for $650.00 I think.. but that was pre-ban.. I'd hoped that they would come down but WWII drums are even higher now and the crappiness of the "new" drums is keeping the price up.

That Drum was listed before on Gunbroker with a BIN for $350.00 It was up there for quite a while too. He raised it to $600.00 and it sold?!!! Man, that was DUMB! You could have purchased TWO LEO Marked WH "L" Drums for that price!

I contacted the seller and this is what he wrote me back:

QUOTE
In 1975 Auto Ordanance Corp., in West Hurley New York began production of their Third Generation 1928 Thompsons. Between 1975 thru 1986 some 3,200 1928 Thompsons, Drums and extras were produced, until being banned by Federal Law in May of 1986. This Drum was purchased in 1990 from a defunct Gun Shop called the Sportsman's Den. I became a GunBroker Auction Seller in 2001, I have both Brought & Sold, Guns & Items via GB auctions. Currently I have 15 Positive feedbacks regarding my GB transactions. My user id is gshep9. This Drum has been re-listed several times, the starting price HAS ALWAYS BEEN $350.00 with a Reserve Price of $585.00 & in later re-listed auctions a Buy It Now Option for $600.00. The Drum was first listed for sale on 12/2/2004. Please check and verify by searching GB Completed Auctions, the title is the same as the auction you bid on.
The problem is this because you purchased the Drum via the Buy It Now Option for $600.00, that constitues an immediate End of Auction/Immediate Win for you and a immediate GB posting fee of $15.63 against my on file credit card.for me.
I can assure you this Thompson Drum IS NOT OF " Kahr Mfg." or of a ( new current production run ) as you were previous concerned with. Kindly reply so we can resolve this transaction, I assure you Joe, I do not make false claims, or use strong arm sales tactics to sell on GunBroker auction site. I also sell on AuctionArms.com kindly view my positive feedback there as well, my feedback user-id is Shep59. Kindly reply back and let me know your intent as regards to this purchase

Point is, he did relist it several times with a starting bid of $350.00, and no takers...Oh well...Live and learn I guess...Sorry about that Bro, but maybe you should have posted whether or not that was a good price here, prior to using the BIN option..

True.. but it was never listed with a BIN at $350.00 like you stated

Considering I hadn't seen it for some time, I knew the price was around $350.00 as I said. I had thought the BIN price was $350.00, but I already mentioned that I was incorrect in my last post above.

I may be a little slow but I don't like being called "DUMB"..  http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif

The point of the Thread was whether or not you had gotten a good deal...

How did I do guys?

I stated, " Man, that was DUMB!", considering that these Drums have dropped a lot since the AW Ban had expired. I just could not believe someone, especially a Member of this Forum, would spend that kind of money on a WH Drum. To think of it, that was still Dumb, and no, I didn't call you Dumb as you know it wasn't stated in that fashion. I know you must be a little angry for acting in haste, but we've all done it, and I've made a few Dumb mistakes myself. Geeeez Hawkeye, I didn't mean to offend.

Hawkeye, if you haven't sent the money yet, just don't. He'll get over it. If I thought I was buying a Porsche and it turned out to be a Volkswagon, I would put the stops on the deal, even if I told the guy I would buy it.

It's YOUR money until you hand it to him.

Hawkeye--

I once purchased a dummy 50 Cal, thinking that it was full sized, with real military parts. After I found out that it was a miniature, I backed out. I felt a little bad, because the seller did list the size, even if it was in really small print and also in cms. Still, I should have read that small print, and also should have been better at my metric conversion. So, I felt a little to blame. The seller accepted from me what we called a small restocking fee. I kept my feedback positive. If this concerns you, maybe you can strike a similar deal. Email him a link to this thread, so he understands why you want out of the deal. The restocking fee would be optional, depending on how guilty you feel. Just a thought!?! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif
