Just In- Guide Lamp M3A1

Recommended Posts

After an 8 month wait I just picked up my Guide Lamp M3A1. I'm thrilled to finally get it! The Form-3 showed "US" as the manufacturer and the BATF didn't like that. They sent the form back and wanted that updated with more correct information. So the Form-4 now reads Guide Lamp Div, General Motors Corp, USA. Fortunately they did this without completely starting over, so basically I was able to keep my place in line.

Anyway, happy to finally have it! The first thing I did with it was change it over to the M3 guide rod assembly with the large backplate.

Here it is.

Thanks guys! This gun is a real beauty. As received it had a little chip in the extractor. I didn't notice it at first, but it was a little hit and miss when cycling.

I looked it over better and saw the flaw in the extractor, changed it in about 20 minutes, and it hasn't missed a beat since! These things are super reliable and a real joy to shoot!

Any Transferabe M3A1 is hard to find-Ithaca or GL due to the number of them in the registry. That being said, its more common to see an M3A1 pre sample than a pre sample M3. Personally I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the 68 import ban kept a lot of the M3A1s from getting back, plus the fact that they were still in official service when the 86 hammer dropped.

Any real GI M3 or M3A1 under $25k these days is decent as long as its not all chopped up.
