1950Plymouth
Continuing the topic from: http://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12975 I figured I'd start a new thread since we were getting onto a new topic. I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how! I was fortunate enough to acquire a 1970's Palmer tranq gun from an animal control officer. It was about to be tossed in the dumpster... free stuff is best stuff! It came with a box of refillable aluminum darts and some original paperwork. I'll post when i can, they may be of interest. Yes Bridgeport28A1... i found three tins of brass charges. I have not counted them but they feel pretty full. I'd estimate about 100-150 without pulling them all out of the cotton. Two tins are marked for 1-3 cc and one is marked for 4-10 cc. As to whether they are firing charges or a charge that goes inside the dart itself... i'm not quite sure. They are about .22 sized. I'll get some pics up. Edited June 9, 2022 by 1950Plymouth

I'll get some pics up. The firing charges i used were .22 cal nail gun blanks. They came in color coded power loads. If you used a too powerful of a load you would literally shoot the dart through one side of a white tail deer. Not a through and through but bury the dart as opposed to just the barb and needle. The small brass charges that detonates on impact and forces the drug out of the aluminum dart body had a round end and an end that had a roll crimp over a brass disc. The brass disc had some spring action inside. Our tranquilizer guns were H&R break action single shot shotgun in a non standard gauge, with a chamber insert that one could use with a .22 cal blank.
