Hello all!

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

Been using this board for a while now and thought it was about time I officiall said hi to everyone. I am amazed by the sheer amount of information here and the knowledgable people. Thanks Nick...My hat's off...very impressive. Makes me realize how little I really know here. Would be great to organize all this information.

Short bio:

33M Engaged and fiance (Erika) just got a bun in the oven. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

Live in upstate New York very close to West Hurley

Web developer by trade (largest client is the Seneca Tribe www.TobaccoSource.com)

Collect guns, precolumbian art, and love to hunt and fish.

have a 27A1...would be a 21 but live in New York. (I may change that)

At any rate, I would like to help the hobby along any way I can...Manfacturing impossible to find parts, organizing research information, give free web sites and email addresses to folks that provide parts or services to the hobby. Any suggestions will be welcomed.

I hope to make it to Tracie Hills this year if all goes well with Erika being pregnant and all. I hope to see some of you there if all goes well. (I will bring some goodies!)

While I am here...can anyone tell me if it is a hassle to reg a smg in Mass? A friend of mine was wondering if it was worth the hassle! AS IF!

Anyhow nice to meet everyone on the board and will do my best to help things along.

Congrats on the bun Damon http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif

I was thinking about giving some of the people on this board who do "business" for the Thompson and any of the other Forums(gunsmiths etc...) some space for a personal site here. ie. www.machinegunbooks.com/tommygunner That way they could list an email, phone number etc.. and some info. or pics about the work they do.

Whadda think?

Nick,

Yah...thats exactly the scenario I was looking at tommygunner.com/nick or something... also emails, nick@tommygunner.com. I thought that interested folks could send me the pics and I would happily throw the pages together with a contact form for them. Not trying to take away from your site...just that was the idea I had.

Are you getting any more books? Would love to put them on the site!

Thanks for the congrats on the bun! First one and I am shocked at how enthusiastically I take on what will eventually lead to my demise. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Tommygunner: Hope you make it to the TCA show and shoot. Look me up. I may be able to "loan" you something that you can't own in New York. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif

I'll probably never get around to doing it though, but if someone asks..... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

Not sure about the books, I would imagine so, but probably after the summer or fall? I would have to double check with Frank about that.. If you want to link anything from the site, or have any other ideas drop me a line... Pretty cool site you have over there!!

TommyGunner--

Good to have you here with us. Also many congrats!!!

I know of one part idea that would be popular with the group. If you could make a 1921/28 look-alike, knurled cocking knob, that would replace the big one now on the Kahr 27, I'll bet you would sell them as fast as they are made. Anyway, just a thought! Thanks

Welcome Damon, congrats on the bun and it's great to know there are other New Yorkers of a similar mindset. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Welcome Damon, I will see you at the S/S at Tracies this year. I have checked out your site several times. Looks like good stuff. Make sure you bring lots along to the show so we all can see it first hand. I like the slides you make. Look good, like to see one up close.

Congrats on the little gunners mate coming along soon.

Tommygunner,

Welcome to the forum!

As far as owning an SMG in Mass, you can own one. There is one stipulation; No select fires.

In Mass. you can own a full auto, but you can not own a semi auto.

An example: If you wanted to own a Thompson 1928 in Mass. you could, as long as it shoots full auto ONLY! You would have to find a Thompson that does not have a selector switch. As far as I know, all full auto Thompsons did; therefore, the state of Mass. will not allow a person to own one. I'm not sure, but maybe if the Thompson 28/21 was modified so that it could not fire in semi-auto; they might allow it.

I do know that the registered drop in firing pin that converts a Thompson 27A1 into a full auto only is allowed in Mass.

It is a strange law, but one that is there nonetheless.

Norm
