Selling Thompson Package Deal - Updated 4/19

Recommended Posts

I was attempting to sell it locally to make inspections easy, but now posting to a larger audience so pictures are limited at this time but expect more to come later like closeups of the drum labels.

This was previously owned by the Stembridge company and used in the Dick Tracy movie. This means it previously had a "blank" barrel, but was replaced and reblued before sold to me by Bob Bowmen (I believe that was the person). I had this at my first Thompson shoot in Ohio and actually won 1st place in the pepper popper contest. (It was a close contest and even have it on video.)

All the numbers match.

The Entire Package includes :

  • 1928 Thompson (Bridgeport)
  • 46 - 30 round mags
  • 1 - 20 round mag
  • 5 - 50 round drums
  • 1 - 100 round drum
  • All Spare Parts shown in the picture and what you can't see in the ammo can.
  • Barrel Remover Tool
  • Complete spare Lower
  • Mag Loader
  • Letter from Stembridge
  • Reproduction FBI Case
  • Pelican Case Model 1650

Notes : The wheels on the Pelican case may need to be replaced as they became soft from sitting in the attic.

There should be more than enough spare parts to keep the Thompson running for multiple lifetimes.
There are more parts in the oil not shown in the photo which include a number of internal parts.

Listing this entire package for $35,500 shipped.

Please e-mail with any questions (jnlseb@hotmail.com)

Cell phone number can be provided upon request, but unless I know who is calling I don't answer. B)

Here are additional pictures of some of the drums (taken with my phone).

I did not include extra of the repro 50 and 100 as they are your standard repro....except these work. :P

That leaves 4 non-repro drums.

3 of the 4 are pretty much the same with these markings.

The 1 drum has instructions for both 1921 and 1928 with an S stamped on the front, but the back looks identical to the others. Not certain if this is mismatched drum.

To whoever buys this package from Jim,

The drum with the S stamped on the cover faceplate is indeed a mismatched drum. The body/rotor is standard Bridgeport (United Specialties) V2-4 and the cover appears to be a Worcester first or second version. There would be no logical overlap between these two drum components.

I have no idea when or why the S was stamped on the front of this drum, but it is an interesting oddity that I would love to add to my display collection. I will be happy to provide the correct cover for this drum in whatever exchange we can arrange. Please contact me via PM on this board.

Thank you for your consideration.

Roger

Jim - who made the barrel removal tool?

Thanks!

That looks like a Richardson wrench

Ron

It was purchased so long ago I don't remember but you are probably right and at least one of those spare barrels are from him as well.

  • 4 weeks later...

Added 1 more photo which has additional parts to include in the package deal.

No idea where all these parts are coming from. :o

One of the items in the image is the following which I thought was neat.

It is hard to see among the other parts due to the lighting but it is there.
