ppgcowboy
Not Thompson related but, my business is shut down due to the recent pandemic. So no visitors. When I wake up this morning my girlfriend, when she is not mad at me shows me a sheriff bulliten in Facebook about a guy breaking into local houses and burgularizing them. In the release there are photos of him and his vehicle. So at 12 noon my handyman calls me and says he thinks he just saw the red truck pull up to the lodge. Indeed it was him, and he asks if it is at all possible to rent a cabin for the evening, so I think stall and keep him here and I say sure but the cabins are stripped and it will take 30 or so minutes to get one ready. He tells me sure I will wait. I tell him I need to get my lodge keys from my house, and go inside while he waits outside. While inside I ask my GF to see the pictures again and indeed it was him. I explain to him my concern about social distancing and maintain a safe distance, I by the way am always armed so felt in control the whole time. Long story short, I did all I could to engage him in conversation and pretend to get his cabin ready in order to stall to keep him here, he was taken into custody once the deputies showed up. There were lots of stolen weapons and stuff in his truck. Edited April 13, 2020 by ppgcowboy

ppgcowboy
From start to finish, 35 minutes elapsed. Somehow his willingness to stay for so long almost seems like a cry for help. The deputies did a great job securing the scene. Yes indeed, a happy ending for all involved.
