my 38/44 charging handle is so cheap....the handle loosened up a bit tonight and jammed the bolt for a bit..took time to figure out and fix....

i know these guns can use older parts on newer models...ive got an older charging handle..might be milled....will it work on a 38/44

(gun is in jail, so i cant play with it at home yet)

38a handle assembly is machined and fits in a track machined into receiver. 38/42 and later models use a threaded knob that holds a stamped piece to cover cocking slot in receiver. The knob portion screws on to a stud that comes from the inside of receiver. It just gets snugged up so it’s not too loose and not too tight . Then you get a punch or staking tool to dent stud so it locks into screwdriver slot in

The knob. As long as the knob does not turn any it will not come loose. Also the stamped cover has an indention that matches one in the receiver which guides it back and forth. 38a handle does not interchange.

its a very stupid design on a very nice designed gun....i think it was changed to save 1/4 ounce and $1 in manufacturing....its flimsy

can anyone verify if the part that goes inside the tube should be perfectly straight? or should it have a angle to it? im trying to determine is mine is bent up ? or if its supposed to have a bend...id say its 5 degrees or so bent...maybe bit less...a work bench and a hammer could probably fix it(if its bent)....sad that there are no spare parts for this out there...if anyone has a spare of the inside part i would buy it ?
