Right now, on Gunbroker, there are several M1/M1A1 bolts for sale for between $325-$600.

The $325 bolt is the current bid. I'd say $600 is too much, but recently so many kits have come

in with no bolts that one vendor is resorting to a "conversion block" which supposedly will convert

a M1928 bolt to work as an M1.

M1928A1 stripped stocks are $15. But stocks with all of the ORIGINAL hardware practically

speaking, do not exist, especially in MINT condition. The current "going rate" for a complete

M1928A1 parts set with finned barrel and Lyman 55B sight is $2200-$2400, although occasionally

you can find one on Gunbroker for less. If you divide a kit into a barrel/forend assy., a trigger

frame assy, a bolt/actuator assy, a rear sight, and a buttstock assy and assign reasonable value to

the various assemblies which make up a kit, a complete stock assy. would have a value of at

least $500.

So yes, the prices are correct and I'd say are in a fair range. And of course, if you don't like

the price, you do not have to buy.

Reconbob, thanks for the info letting us all know Doug was back in town. I spoke with Doug today and discussed sending him $43 for the 209 page technical manual. Check was dropped in the mail this afternoon. For others who may want to order, he does not accept PayPal or credit cards. Only checks and cash.

I offered to reproduce the manual for him and to facilitate sales here in the USA while he is away in Belize. (I am a media producer by trade) I would be able to accept PayPal and credit cards and ship quickly here in the USA while he is out of the country but have no idea if he will take me up on that offer. Just thinking his knowledge base and experience is something we would not want to loose in the Thompson community.

I just called him at the phone number Reconbob had listed.

"You can call Doug 310-457-6400, "

Left a message and he called me back in a few hours.

I already knew that I wanted to order the workshop manual Reconbob mentioned in his first post.

I don't think he currently has a website up and runnings and would speculate he won't. When I ordered the workshop manual from him, he told me he was blind and couldn't ship my manual until someone could take him to the post office. So, not sure updating his website is a priority. I could be wrong.

In a previous post, someone gave this link to view his old website which is very interesting and gives you some idea of his line of products if this could be helpful to you Jojeep to find the item(s) your interested in.

  • 1 year later...

Called Doug today (1/21/2021) looking for a 1928 buffer pilot sling mount. He said he plans to stay in Central America until the pandemic is over. If anyone has a spare 1928 buffer pilot sling mount, please let me know.

I don't have one, and I don't know what the Richardson one looked like. That said, if I wanted a Model 28 Buffer Pilot Sling Mount, I'd get a 28 Buffer Pilot and longitudinally, center line drill and tap (probably 10-32) the rear face of the buffer pilot and install a sling swivel eyelet.

Best of luck.

MHO, YMMV, etc. Be powerful; be well.
