StooperZero
50,000 with a spear/shield. 10,000 - even if they all just had 1 30 rd mag.that's 300,000 rounds. 10- 30rd mags for a 300rd combat load. 3,000,000 rounds. enough everything they see would be dead. AlexanderA
After the first few ranks of Romans were mowed down, the rest would run away. They were brave, but they were not stupid.
06AngusSG
I don't think that battle is historically accurate... Although if it ever did take place... I think it would end in the same way.
anticus
If the legions could encircle the GI's the Romans might have a chance. Think Cannae. The trick for Caius the centurion and his comrades is to limit the number of guns bearing on the attackers. The soldiers on the outside of the crush would have trouble avoiding friendly fire from the inner ranks trying to engage. Casualties on both sides would be high. Very high. anticus
Exactly ! At the Battle of Isandlwana in 1879, Zulus -armed mainly with assagais -annihilated over 1300 British troops armed with Martini Henrys and artillery. Tactics matter. Addendum: The back ranks of the Romans would be throwing pilums (light javelins) en masse. Probably have archers in auxiliary units firing volleys of arrows. The GI's have no shields and no armor , save their helmets. Roma Victa ? Edited May 23, 2017 by anticus
