if you think its worth $8,000 and the seller says $9,000 and you pay that to him or her>>>you lied to yourself...............as far as what you think its worth............
africa.268.00
russia.250.00
east L.A.989.00
ukraine.50.00 they like ak's.........
the united state's.....................$20,000 and up to 250,000
naw!! make it a even million................so i can sell mine and retire totally...................
there is no chart of real worth.justalot of made up numbers in book's,from so called selling experts,{that becomes outdated every year so you buy the latest and best book!!!!}duh!!anybody figured out that marketing ploy yet????the 2004 ed is hitting the newstands now.....
so see how much the gun is worth that you are 'NOT SELLING"
so figure how much you have to spend right now,no loans,no selling off of other good's, cycles,car's,stock's bonds,gold,silver,or original 1921 thompson manual's......{first ed.}
and go get one,
if the sellers price seems too high.guess what it probably is in the first place..............
but we all have the jones to own one or get another......so be it...............now just do this, can you say SATAN!!!!
wink!!have fun guy.take care,ron

The way prices are going if you were able to get it for under 10K you did good. I've been seeing asking prices of 10-12k up to 14K.
Pre-sample M1/M1A1's are going for 5.5-6K. My buddy just bought a Colt 21/28 pre-sample for 10.5K..but it has history from the Nicaraguan National Guard/USMC.
Good luck!

I am glad it did not sell. I am growing quite fond of thompsons!
Mine sounds similar to yours with exception to the US Property markings...do you have pictures or detailed information you would like to share?

So I'm getting mixed messages. Some say 7.5, some say 10K and yet you mention placing a gun on auction and seeing it go to 14K. If this is the case then I'd say the market is 14 right?

the 28's seem to be pushing 14-15K (WWII), so if i had a choice of an M1A1 or a 28 at 14-15K, i would sure as hell go for the 28, i wouldn't even touch the M1A1 at 14k, but that's just me.

Couple of board members just bought one apiece and paid like $7,500. I would think 10K is pushing the upper limits. (whew! that Ron guys smoked way to much pcp in the 60's or something! ![]() Jr |

For instance, a garden variety used WH 28 gun with one stick and one drum mag just sold on subguns for 9.5K on a form 4. And that gun is not even a curio and relic firearm.
Yes I guess one can find a deal now and then as evidenced by my recent acquisition of an original M3 Gude Lamp greasegun for 4.5K but those deals are not representitive of the market. For a minute there guys you almost had me doubting the deal value of this Savage at 11k but regardless I'm going for it. Something tells me that I'd be nuts to pass on it and that you all would be all over it if I did.
Good input none the less and I'd be happy to buy ALL the original WWII Thompson guns you want to sell at 7.5 to 9K. Just email me and a check will be out immediately.
Somehow I don't think I'm going to get any takers.

M1 article in newspaper

I can understand why you would want to keep secret a source for Colt and WWII Thomspons that sell for under $8K. But I do not understand why this source would deliberately want to cheat themselves from a profit that could easily be realized by advertsing on the open market? That's just un-American. Wouldn't it be neighborly to tell GonePostal where he could latch on to one of these $8K WWII M1's? I am sure he would offer a finders fee.
Since in the newspaper article you stated that you bought the M1 from a police department for investment purposes, as well as to shoot, I would guess that even if you would never pay $14K for that TSMG, you wouldn't be adverse to selling one for that kind of coin.

I read the newspaper article on your Thompson purchase - congratulations! However, being a European, I find it odd that your name is in there. Here we go to great lengths secluding the fact that we own guns. I look forward to reading about your range experience with it!
