Hi,
the dealer who had the savage 28 that i got had a WWII canvas case also. it is featured on page 349 (top) of Hill's "Thompson:the american legend" book. this one has no manufacturer's name on it. i think it's in pretty good condition. the guy said the gun came over from Britain in this case.
what is this case worth? i thought he said he had the brass cleaning rod too, but i don't know if he can find it in that pigsty! LOLOL
thanks
Craig

If he doesnt want an arm and a leg for it, I would get it. Sounds pretty neat if its true. Plus thats a very early gun.

Craig,
I just spoke with another Thompson collector yesterday and he told me he sold one of those last year for $1200. That may be a bit high, but I would grab it for the $300 figure you mentioned earlier. These cases did come with a cleaning rod, but you could pick that up on the side without much difficulty. However, I would still ask him for it.

I've seen soem go for as high as $800 but not $1200. Most go in the $600 range. If he wants $300 for it take it. If not email me.
