Assault Weapons Ban And Sunset

To All,
What individual would you consider "writing in" as President in 2004, that you really believe would allow the AW ban to sunset, would protect the U.S citizens from illegal immigration (and actually enforce existing immigration laws), protect our borders, and fight for the Bills of Rights (all 10, not just a select few)?
I have been a supporter of Bush, but I am not real sure he is the guy for 2004. Recently, I have been more than disappointed.
If the word gets out that the Second Amendment crowd may write in a candidate, Bush may wake up. I can't vote Demo, but I sure can write someone in and not feel bad about it.
Who is that person that you would write in?
Thanks,

I'm not sure if he'll actually renege on his promises, but it sounds good to the antis now.....he may just be trying to pick up some votes. OR he may truly believe (contrary to what he said during his campaign) thay AW's are now BAD and the ban needs to continue.
Here's whay I plan to do (because I really think that nobody will be able to touch him)..........
Start writing e-mails and letters to Dubya AND to your Senators and Representatives.(letters work the best....a "hard copy" in hand is way better than an e-mail, but an e-mail is better than not writing at all.
Don't forget to add any other points of interest or comments on other subjects.....try not to make the letter look like a "one-issue" deal.
If our elected officials see enough of these asking to allow the ban to sunset then that will be what happens. Grass roots politics, pure and simple. They WILL take NOTICE!! That's how it's supposed to work anyway.
Write once every couple weeks and urge ALL your friends, relatives, spouses, etc .
Remember, no matter what they think, YOU own your politicians!! Make your voice heard!!

If we don't vote, don't stay informed, and don't communicate with our elected representatives, we give the benefits of living in the free-est nation on earth away and then the special interests own them, as Arthur has said. I for one don't intend on abdicating my rights as a citizen to anyone without a fight. Granted, it has to be done by the book, being politically informed, active and aware, and showing others what they miss out on by not doing the same thing.
I remember a bumper sticker saying, "Don't blame ME, I didn't vote for him!"
The LAST thing I want to be is the person who has to admit to himself, "It's my fault, I didn't vote AGAINST him!"

And that guy is a genuine wacko. If anyone believes what that person says, they need to read some other peoples' opinions on other web sites. For instance, they should try RealClearPolitics.com or HughHewitt.com just to name a couple that come to mind.
And if you want to get a real good source of info on the fight for our Second Amendment rights, go to NealKnox.com You can get a monthly newsletter from him that tells you, in short, the situation in Washington and around the country.

I just read the main statement (rant) on that celticsurf/freeworld page. And that guy is a genuine wacko. If anyone believes what that person says, they need to read some other peoples' opinions on other web sites. |
Charlie, I didn't read anything from Freeworld that I didn't believe. Perhaps you should read on that site, "American Gestapo". All that is written is pretty much fact. What was it that you disagreed with?

I still say the Second Amendment crowd needs to wake some people up (politicians) or they (politicians) pay the consequences. Maybe its up to us class 3 fans to fuel the fire and get the pro Second Amendment crowd energized.
Nick, thanks for leaving my post here where I think it got a lot more action.

You guys did it!!!
For Pres. Ann Coulter
For V.P. Ron Paul
I know I could support Ann!!!! I believe there is a picture of her on her web site with her shooting a rifle from the front porch. I love to watch her on FOX News go up against the whackos. Its ususally a slam dunk on her part. I will investigate Ron and see what his voting record looks like.
Hedgecock for Sec of State

I went back to that site and read "American Gestapo". And I agree with you. We should be outraged by a story like that one about that young women deported back to Germany. I'm not really surprised that many people are being wrongly, unjustly turned away. Even in the wake of the tragedy of the Twin Towers destruction and murder of over 3,000 people, you would think our government could do a better job of training people to screen out true 'undesirables'. I'm guessing, that the people who do the screening and checking people coming into this country, are thinking that if they let someone in, who turns out to be a real terrorist, who causes another horrible event, that they, the screeners will get the blame and shame of not doing their job.
Maybe there's more to that story than what was reported. I don't know. Maybe the families wrote their congressmen and senators and others and got an apology, later, and their people were allowed in. Who knows? You just can't take the word of one source of news for any one story, and be certain that you're getting all the facts. I'm not saying I have all the facts about everything that's going on in the world. That's why I read at least a few different sources, if I can. I'm sure you do, too.
What I didn't agree with, to put it mildly, was the way the writer of the opinion on the first page I read, said that "Uncle Sam used to be everyone's favourite uncle. But not anymore. In recent times he has shown his true colours as a vicious and ruthless killer of men, women, and children and arch-proponent of shameless imperialism. Under smirking president-by-default and commander-in-chief George W. Bush, America has lost its way and gone Nazi. And become a serious threat to its own people and to our entire planet."
This person is one of those people who see's The United States as the real villain of the world. According to him, it's the U.S. government and their "Talk Radio" cronies leading their vast Right Wing Conspiracy that is the cause of all the evil and injustice in the world. Right. If the Americans had just left Saddam in power and let the UN continue to do the wonderful job the Inspectors were doing, all those thousands of innocent civilians would still be alive and well... unless they happened to be the people Saddam wanted dead because they were a threat to him. Then they joined the other hundreds of thousands of men, women and children given a free bus ride out to the desert, wait their turn to get their free bullet(s) and free place next to the other corpses in the nice big ditch.
If they're lucky. Or, if not, they got to visit Rape Room or Torture World. Maybe they'd even live to tell about the experience. Apparently, some did.
Look. I know we, as a nation, haven't done everything right. I hate the fact that the people pushing atheism, liberalism, relativism, pornography, drugs, abortion, and a few other things I disagree with in our country are doing it. I guess that's one of the problems a free society. But I'd still rather do what I can in my little area of influence here in the U.S., than be somewhere else. That's probably something like I'd tell this person.
I'm not always the most eloquent writer when it comes to this sort of thing. Anyway, what I quoted above is one of the things with which I disagree.
What about all you other guys reading this Board? Who or where do you go to get news and opinions about what's going on in the world?
Try going to someone like Hughhewitt.com and going to the archives section or clicking on one of the suggested blogs and reading their views of the news. Realclearpolitics.com is another good one. IMHO
