lol. I guess I need to pay closer attention to the "fine print" on the board. Yup, I teach history...some would say the non-PC/non-New England version, and yes, my students come out fairly well-versed, not just on the Second Amendment, but on the whole Bill of Rights (as well as other parts of our Constitution.) As to the Second Amendment, I've been known to bring in a few "props" when dealing with WWI and WWII... my WWII "show-and-tell" day is always a big hit with my college students and even some of the faculty/staff. (I've had my TSMG in class at the college a few times, and brought an 08/15 Maxim to my dual-credit high school classes last year.) Somebody's got to "learn these young 'uns" a thing or two, and with so many of the liberals who corrupted our youth back in the 1960s and '70s retiring, it's high time someone give our students a more conservative (and accurate) history.

The Thompson and I were both born in New England and neither of us is PC. History should not be taught through the prisim of any political ideology, but rather on the merits of the facts as they happened.

Happy belated birthday Bill in VA! biggrin.gif smile.gif I'm a history teacher too, currently taking a graduate course in constitutional theory. It is being taught by a rather conservative attorney at a liberal eastern university! ohmy.gif blink.gif biggrin.gif I already mentioned this site, but I did not name it. I only stated that I converse regularly with machinegun owners who are very passionate about the Second Amendment. He didn't say much after that!! Regards, Walter

P.S. Arthur, you are absolutely right that history should be taught on the 'merits of the facts' and not through an idealogical prism. It is hard to do, because each of us has had different life experiences, upbringing, etc.
