I got the VHS tapes for the series a couple years ago for Christmas. I watched all the tapes except for the last one. Now that I've got the '27a1 I'm waiting for the parts I ordered(horizontal forearm,M1 style rear sight, '28 type cocking knob, '21 style paddle saftey and some other stuff) to come in, once I get the '27 fixed up I'm going to break out the tapes again and watch them from start to finish. It'll be nice having a WWII type Thompson to hold while I watch the series. I know some people will think I'm a nut because of that but it adds a "feel" to the movie to have something like they're using to hold onto while I watch. Talk to ya'll later. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

I won't hold it against you if you wear a bean pot helmet and jump boots while watching band of brothers, however it might add too much if someone is blocking your view and you hollar down in front.... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Now that I finally got my M1 Thompson back from the smith I can be able to watch the BoB series, Saving Private Ryan, Kelly's Heros, and others. It definitely adds to watching a good movie. Of course, if someone is in front of you, you do not have to shout them down, just fire over their head http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif .

REISINGSTAR, PK is making them up. He's also got the paddle style safety that I'll be using to replace the stock,'27 safety. The stock safety looks cheap but I really do like the looks of the paddle safety. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif Glad to see that I'm not the only one who likes "props" to hang onto while watching a movie. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif My wife thinks it's kind of odd to have a gun out while watching a movie but what does she know, she's just a girl http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Jim, M1, et. al,...there is supposedly some new stuff for the future...but just don`t know when.If there is money to be made I`m sure Hollywood will make it...I watch BoB on CD alot,and I admit to rackin` the 28 when I watch..but that`s as far as I go...h o n e s t l y...

All this time I thought I was the only one who liked to have a prop when watching a good movie. I remember my sister-in-law looking at me funny http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif when I had my Lee Enfield while watching 'ANZACS', an excellent WW1 Australian movie. Also my M1A1 carbine when watching 'Objective Burma' and 'Farewell to the King'. I know of 'Saints and Soldiers' coming out soon. Not a series, but it looks like a good WW2 movie.

Jim: I hear that Tom Hanks as producer, will be doing a similar series based on the WWII Pacific theatre conflict. I'm sure there is info. out there on this upcoming production, perhaps someone else here has looked into this and can tell us more? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
