Side Folding Thompson? U-571

Recommended Posts

Watching U-571 on tv again I am still curious about the Thompsons they have with what appears to be Reising side folding stocks. One guy has a Reising 55 but the others have top cocking Thompsons with what appear to be the folding stock of the 55? Was this a true military model used at any time or just a movie prop guy cobble job?

Folding stocks made by Stembridge Gun Rental. Former huge gun rental company.

If they wanted a stockless gun why didn't they just take off the butt stock. But that is Hollywyrd for you.

That is the rare folding stock developed by Bill Ruger when he was a young man... Later on he used the same design, more or less, on his Mini-14... I'm sure these will bring a good premium in years to come as precurser models of the now rare Mini-14 folders, so deadly that they are now illegal to produce......

Are you talking about the Winchester model 70's in .375 H&H with the bayonet lug and integeral flash suppressor? I thought those were banned. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif
